| Found oozing hole and lump on chest I just found a wound on Deuce's chest. It's round about 1/4 to 1/2 inch in diameter with a hole in the center. The center looks like a hole. It looks like some pus with some blood. I've attached a picture. Looks like he was licking it. Any ideas what this may be? I certainly will take him to the vet in the morning. My poor boy.

| I wonder if it is a parasite that burrowed under his skin.

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Possibly a cyst, Quincy had one and it was hidden so well under the hair on his cheek I didn't even know it was there until I found that it had burst when grooming him after a bath. I cleaned it up and it healed up on it own. Could also be one of those sweat bumps that came to a head. (if that is possible).

| Poor Deuce! Glad you are taking him to the vet tomorrow. There was a member here whose Yorkie had a fly larvae: All About the Opportunistic Cuterebra Parasite Sending best wishes to your beautiful boy for this to be an easy fix.

| I also thought it looked like a fly larva. I saw one once at the vets office & it looked very similar. Please let us know what the vet says.

| Whatever it is, he definitely needs to be seen by a vet. I would never not go to the vet with something like that. So happy you have an appointment!

| Abscesses smell bad... cuterebra don't have an odor other than fresh blood, which is what that appears to be. It's important to get to the vet quickly bc if the dog scratches and injures the larvae or if it is broken when one tries to remove it, it will release toxins that will cause anaphylaxis (severe allergic reaction). If there are rabbits in the yard, look for large, non-biting, black flies... if any of these are present, cuterebra is a good possibility.
