| Lump on eyelid I discovered a lump on my dogs eyelid. I took him to the vet and I couldn't believe how swollen it was under the eyelid. The vet said there's a small chance it being cancer due to his age. In the meantime he's having ointment to eliminate infection but it hasn't done any good. It don't seem to bother him. He's not squinting and he has no discharge from the eye. He's going under tomorrow for a biopsy. Is this necessary? My concern being is he has a few health issues. An enlarged liver and possibly cushing disease. I know it's rear for something to go wrong but I'm still nervous. Has anyone had any experience with lumps on the dog's eyelid and if it is cancer what's the chances of him getting through it? He's 10yrs old |

| I'm so sorry your guy is going through this...I personally have not had any experience w/ lump on eyelid, but I do have a pup that had 2 biopsies done. One was a white bump on his back, came back benign. He didn't need to go under for them to get a sample. He also had his saliva glands fine needle aspirated bc it was swollen. Got this done when he was under when he was having his dental cleaning...that also came back benign, as salivary tissue. I would get a full panel blood test done, make sure he'll be ok to handle the anesthesia...maybe a specialist would be best for this condition? Hope others will chime in. All the Best for your guy!

| Thanks for your reply. I'm glad your little yorkie is good and the results came back negative. It's awful waiting for results. Little after posting I took my yorkie to the vet as his paw was pouring out blood due a his nail. They also looked at his eye and fortunately he don't need a biopsy as it's getting better. Such a relief :-) Been worrying all week! |

| Very happy to hear the lump is getting better! Max has had 2 styes on his eyelid. I used cotton balls to make a warm compress (not too hot or the water could hurt the eye). We did the warm compress a few times a day and some goop came out, and the bump went away. If there is swelling underneath the lid, that can irritate the eye, but it sounds like it did not in your boy's case. Hope his eye and nail heal completely quickly.

| Thanks guys, I'm so glad I came across this forum. If I have any questions in future I know where to come. I still have to go back to the vet in a week so hopefully it's completely gone by then. I can't imagine the pain of loosing a nail. |
