| Fizz is not coming home today I want mu Fizz-Gig home!!!!! Sigh BUN 88 mg/dl Creatine 2.5 mg/dl Phosphorus 7.3 mg/dl Amylase 2311 u/l cholesterol 386 mg/dl These were the readings when he was addmitted Now BUN is 63 Creatine 2.4 Phos 7.8 Amylase only down a bit. Cholesterol in normal numbers now This is after three days of IV with antibiotics Vet said we could take him home and home treat with antibiotic/ smoething you put on the food for the Phosphorus and sub-q liquids. Or leave him three more days. The vet gives him round the clock care so I am leaving him. They will also x-ray the kidneys and see if there are stones or cysts. The sad part is there were no other signs of anything wrong. If the next three days bring no big change then a specialist...I will have to figure out how to pay for that. The vet will work out a payment plan with me as I have been going for many years. I miss him so much, and want him home, but don't/won't give up on him! He believes his teeth are the culprit but can't put him under til he levels the readings...big catch 22...teeth need fixed, but can't fix them yet, but if we don't could get worse...sigh... |

| so sorry wow seems odd teeth would be doing this as my girl lost 27 teeth so hers were pretty bad and she was 4 when that happened and her values were not high. She only had high globulin and bun was a little high which caused bun/creatinine ratio to be high. Is he going to consult a nephrologist for kidneys? was there anything else like a medication that could have triggered this or a high protein or high sodium diet? have you joined K9KIDNEYS : for owners of dogs with Kidney Disease as they maybe can shed some light on this more. |

I will get the information to the K(Kidneys tomorrow they are running copies for me. Fizz is probably closer to 7 and it looks as if his teeth have never been cleaned. The vet had a full blood chart with the readings...and he still suspects bacterial. But he will give me a copy to send to them at K9Kidneys to look at as well. The x-rays show nothing at all they just called. I will visit with them tomorrow and get more info.

here is the nephrologist my friend sees for her yorkie as he only has 25% use of his kidneys. She really likes her so maybe your vet can do a phone consult with her Nephrology | Animal Medical Center

Actually, one of the leading causes of renal issues in pups is dental disease. Yorkie owners need to be reminded about this because yorkies have tiny mouths and must have dentals in order to prevent dental disease. I have never seen a yorkie that did not need a dental and one of the things I look for in people who apply to adopt from me is if they have done full vetting on their pups which includes dentals.

| I'm sorry you can't take him home yet. I believe he should be where he is though. They sure are easy to love, huh? He's so precious! I'll say a special prayer just for Fizz tonight. Ladyjane, I just went nuts over him the first time I saw a picture of him. I think he is adorable. He has the cutest little face.
