| Bright red blood in stools ??? I hope it is okay to post here...it is actually my Mother-in-Laws maltese, and she is at the vet now, but I was hoping someone might have insight while I am waiting for anserws. I am super attached to this little girl and watch her often for my mil. She recently had a round of vaccines given (w/o) mil consent while she was boarded at the vet. Could this have anything to do with her new problem. Just really worried, and it would help if I had some anserws (and prayers-from any of you who are so inclined) |

| I have never heard of vaccines causing blood in the stool. It could be several different things and even as little as just some gastrointestinal upset. My Chachi had that before. He also had it when he had worms. Im sure youll get some answers from the vet

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Bright red blood means it's fresh and either from her lower intestines or rectum. The cause could be a number of things which the vet will need to determine, but doubtful it's related to any vaccine. I hope it's nothing serious.

| How long ago were the vaccines given? Unless she signed something agreeing to the vaccines, what they did was medicate without consent which really isn't legal.

| The vet is NOT allowed to give any kind of vaccine or treatment to an animal unless they are give written or verbal permission by the pet's owner!!!

I didn't add that she is also having some pretty severe bouts of diarrhea that just started w/the blood. I hope it isn't from something that happened while they were boarded. I always watch the dogs for mil when she goes out of town, but I wasn't able this time, and felt guility for it anyway, and now this happens. | |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Diarrhea and blood in stool can be signs of Parvo. Is she vomiting? My neighbor's puppy just had it, and they barely saved her in time. Parvo FAQs

| Bright Red blood in stools Icks, I just had this with Jack/ they (vet) told us he might have gotten in some Bad water, Come to find out our pool and pond had bad water (mold) and it was Really Bad but she gave him a shot and kept him for the day. that night he came home and no more bloody stools. It was intestional she said. My husband drained the pool power washed and put new water and drained pond. A week later I took him in for check-up. She told me he Looked very good not a sick puppy anymore. In fact she and everyone remembered that he was not the same puppy they had seen before. I cried for hours when we were going through this. | Vets and boarding facilities do not board pups without vaccines being up to date! I doubt seriously that Bordatella would cause bloody stools. I have had pups get blood in their stools from eating grass...a blade of grass can cause bleeding. Once I had one with bleeding and he was one that does not eat grass. I finally figured out it was from sunflower seeds that my bird was tossing out of the cage! Normally a little bright red blood in the stools is not really serious..I do hope that is the case here.

| Blood in Stool It could be pancreatitis, which is very serious. My Yorkie had it last year, but he is fine now. I took him to the vet right away. He is on a bland gastro diet. |
