My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | Molly needs yours prayers - Stone We were at the vet today She has a bladder stone. I am just in shock. I never expected this at all. I'm just sitting here, not really knowing which way to turn. He put her on a perscription diet called Royal Canin Urinary SO to try and dissolve the stone. Right now, I can't even remember what type of stone it is. When I seem this big ole stone in my babies xray...everything is blank from then on All i know it is the type that can dissolve from a diet. We go back Jan 2 with another urine sample and based on how she is doing we will determine if surgery will be done. He has also put her on Baytril for 30 days. Does anyone know anything about this food????? Experienced bladder stones??? I will be doing my share of research thats for sure. And then I free feed everyone, I have no idea how I'm going to do this Please say a prayer this stone will dissolve with the diet __________________ |

| I don't have an answer for you, but Molly is in our prayers. Was this a routine check up or did you take her in because she showed symptoms?

| Search on here for bladder stones. I know I've seen information here on YT about them. I remember that diet is VERY important, so the research would probably be a good idea. Poor baby! Molly and all of you are in my prayers.

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | Crystal - I think I seriously drew a blank when I seent he xray. I was in total shock. I am going back today to get more food and will hopefully remember to ask again. He said though that it was one you can try to disolve first, I do remember that. Now I have to feed her different from the rest. Ugg. and Royal Canin at that. Crystal do you have nay advise??? |

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | She was showing symtoms, frequent urination, and blood in her urine. Other than that she is as perky as ever. Running around acting like nothing is wrong. I'm so glad I took her in. Poor baby |

It is struvite then and she absolutely does need to be on prescription food for now. She may end up on low protein later. I guess they will all have to fed on a schedule because I wouldn't take the chance of her getting into the other brand. On the bright side,it isn't the worst prescription food ever: Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Canine Urinary SO 13 Because of the amount of protein in this food (not much at all), I don't think dogs are kept on it long term. Science Diet also has a food for this that you might like better but I'm not sure of the ingredients right now.

| At least Molly has the type of stones that can be dissolved with food. Here is a great article for you. I know exactly how you feel. Once you hear something is wrong, most of what the vet says doesn't register. Canine Struvite Bladder Stones |
