| Hi Susan123, I tried posting an thread about my offer of designing a website in return for adopting a Yorkie, but I received a message from the administration saying I wasn't allowed to post this. Just curious if I'm allowed to send private messages about this offer. Does anyone know? |

| Thanks ... I have sent an email to the owner of the older Yorkie (as I'm sure the adorable puppy will be adopted much easier). I'll let you know what happens. As well, I'm going to start researching costs of transporting a dog via air from the U.S. to Canada. |

| Up to this point, I still haven't found the right Yorkie to rescue and complete our family. So I am going to open up my search to rescuing either a little girl OR a little boy. We are a household made up entirely of women (myself, my daughter Hannah and our Yorkie/Chi Tika) and it might be nice to have some testosterone in the house ... LOL I am so grateful to all the wonderful YT members who have sent me leads and informed me of various newspaper ads. Please keep sending me those leads as the more Yorkies I am aware of, the better chance I have of finding the right pup. |

| Jamie... I know this isn't a Yorkie, or even a Yorkie mix... AND, he's not a girl... BUT - one of my family members did take in a precious little Shih Tzu boy - about 6 months old - taken from a city shelter when he was a pup... and a complete mess at that time. Internal and external parasites... pretty large loss of hair from flea dermatitis... he had ringworm on his belly... and was just in general, pretty miserable and uncared for. I've been taking care of him for close to three months now and he's doing beautifully! He does have a tiny umbilical hernia that doesn't seem to give him any trouble and can easily be repaired when you have him neutered. He's had such a sweet little silly spirit and loving personality since the day they brought him to me and that hasn't changed... he's great with the kids and the other furfaces around here and will make someone a wonderful companion! He does really well in his crate as far as his potty training, and will go in and out the doggie door all day.... he's learning to train to puppy pads, but prefers to go outside.... he does have a few accidents from time to time so you'd need to continue with his training for a while longer. He's now a fat, happy healthy little guy in need of a home of his own. His coat has come in thick and beautiful (though I need to give him another bath!) but he's just such a sweetie... his name is Dusty... because he very closely resembles a dustmop! LOL I'm guesstimating his weight to be around 6 lbs right now.... will probably be around 8 full grown. Let me know what you think! Dena

| Hi Dena, Although I had been focusing on a Yorkie, this little guy is absolutely adorable and looks like such a little happy little bundle of joy. I showed the photographs of him to Hannah and she giggled and asked if we could adopt him and have a wedding celebration where he and Tika get married. LOL His small size is ideal because Tika is afraid of dogs much larger than herself and reacts with aggression. I have a few questions for you ... Can you tell me a bit more about what you know about his history? As gorgeous and wonderful as he is, why are you looking to rehome him? (Just curious )Do you think he would do well travelling by plane? Have you ever shipped a dog to Canada before? As well, would you require an adoption fee (if so, how much)? My father is treating my daughter and I to a trip to Disney World and a Bahamas cruise from Feb. 5 to Feb. 14, so if we would be lucky enough to adopt him I would prefer it to be after Feb. 14. I believe the adjustment to a new home and then having us "disappear" for 9 days would be difficult on any dog. I look forward to hearing from you. Warm Regards, Jamie

I went ahead and weighed Dusty just now and I definitely mis-spoke about that.... he is a big ol' 9 lbs right now, so he'll likely be 11 or 12 lbs as an adult. I wouldn't have guessed it, but he certainly is built nice and solid... good muscle mass and a fatty tummy! lol As for his history, I'm afraid I can't help you there... as I said, my daughter took him out of a city shelter and they of course, offered no background on him. As you may know, we already have a male neutered Shih Tzu who doesn't take kindly to any other male, neutered or otherwise, being in his "realm"... lol He's the only male in a houseful of female furbabies and is certainly the "King of his castle" - and likes it that way. I wouldn't consider placing him so much if he were a smaller neutered male, as our Shih Tzu just loves to play with the little ones... our boy is not the least bit aggressive with anyone, but he just gets this silly sappy attitude when other males his size or larger are around... almost depressed.... as though he's feeling "replaced".... I haven't flown a puppy to Canada, but I did consider purchasing a pup from there at one point.... and I think it's a fairly simple procedure with regards to vet exam, health certificate and all.... and the airport is just 15 minutes from my home, so that wouldn't be an issue. I do know that Continental Airlines is one of the only, if not THE only airlines who offers pressurized compartments and climate controlled environments for their pets, so I would definitely want to go with Continental for Dusty's air travel. I am not asking a re-homing fee.... we just want to see him with a family who will love and provide for him throughout his life.... I don't want to ever see him back in a shelter where he came from or bounced around from home to home. A homecoming following your holiday would be just fine... and I agree.... the stress of travel and transition into a new home will be plenty for the lil' guy to deal with... let alone having his new-found family going away upon his arrival, so no worries there.... he's perfectly welcome to stay with us as long as need be. Your thoughts? Dena

| I am absolutely thrilled and don't know what to say other than ... thank you. What a wonderful new addition to the family he will be. I can tell by just looking at him that he will give us much laughter. I phoned Continental Airlines and learned that they only fly to Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver (not Winnipeg). We would obvious want to find a direct flight to Winnipeg, so I'm going to do some more research. I'll let you know shortly.

| He's not that much bigger than Tika, but to be safe I'm going to take Tika for a trip to visit a few local animal shelters to see how she reacts to dogs just a few pounds bit bigger than her. Tika is 6 pounds and my mother has a 20+ lb pug who Tika can't stand because he's so dopey, uncoordinated and very poorly trained - jumping all over people and stepping all over Tika when he gets excited. He can't control his excitement and ends up hurting people by jumping up on them and scratching them with his nails ... or stepping all over Tika. However my sister has a 6 or 7 lb poodle who Tika really likes. They play well together. And Tika loves cats. I'll get down to the shelters this week and let you know how she reacts to the various sized dogs. I don't see it being a problem, but I'd like to be 100% sure how she is. Tika was actually raised with her brother and both dogs were seized from an abusive home. The woman who runs the humane society I adopted her from says that they were very close and tried their best to adopt them into the same home. Unfortunately (before I came along) he was adopted separately from her. I'll let you know how our experiment goes.
