His small size is ideal because Tika is afraid of dogs much larger than herself and reacts with aggression.
I have a few questions for you ...
Can you tell me a bit more about what you know about his history? As gorgeous and wonderful as he is, why are you looking to rehome him? (Just curious )
Do you think he would do well travelling by plane? Have you ever shipped a dog to Canada before?
As well, would you require an adoption fee (if so, how much)?
My father is treating my daughter and I to a trip to Disney World and a Bahamas cruise from Feb. 5 to Feb. 14, so if we would be lucky enough to adopt him I would prefer it to be after Feb. 14. I believe the adjustment to a new home and then having us "disappear" for 9 days would be difficult on any dog.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Warm Regards,
Jamie | Hi Jamie,
I went ahead and weighed Dusty just now and I definitely mis-spoke about that.... he is a big ol' 9 lbs right now, so he'll likely be 11 or 12 lbs as an adult.
I wouldn't have guessed it, but he certainly is built nice and solid... good muscle mass and a fatty tummy! lol
As for his history, I'm afraid I can't help you there... as I said, my daughter took him out of a city shelter and they of course, offered no background on him.
As you may know, we already have a male neutered Shih Tzu who doesn't take kindly to any other male, neutered or otherwise, being in his "realm"... lol He's the only male in a houseful of female furbabies and is certainly the "King of his castle" - and likes it that way. I wouldn't consider placing him so much if he were a smaller neutered male, as our Shih Tzu just loves to play with the little ones... our boy is not the least bit aggressive with anyone, but he just gets this silly sappy attitude when other males his size or larger are around... almost depressed.... as though he's feeling "replaced"....
I haven't flown a puppy to Canada, but I did consider purchasing a pup from there at one point.... and I think it's a fairly simple procedure with regards to vet exam, health certificate and all.... and the airport is just 15 minutes from my home, so that wouldn't be an issue.
I do know that Continental Airlines is one of the only, if not THE only airlines who offers pressurized compartments and climate controlled environments for their pets, so I would definitely want to go with Continental for Dusty's air travel.
I am not asking a re-homing fee.... we just want to see him with a family who will love and provide for him throughout his life.... I don't want to ever see him back in a shelter where he came from or bounced around from home to home.
A homecoming following your holiday would be just fine... and I agree.... the stress of travel and transition into a new home will be plenty for the lil' guy to deal with... let alone having his new-found family going away upon his arrival, so no worries there.... he's perfectly welcome to stay with us as long as need be.
Your thoughts?
