| I have to have a scope :( Honest to God this has been the summer from H***. Thank goodness i have a trip to New York to look forward to! Well after i had my gallbladder out, stomach problems that i have had all my life returned i was really hoping that removing the gallbladder would get rid of it! I have burning at the very top of my stomach, almost by my ribs which is horrible when my stomch is empty or i have something acidic. i went to my doctors and was tested for H pylori.. she never called back so i guess i dont' have it. i went for a follow up with the surgeon who took out my galbladder (he is AMAZING!) and i told him about this pains and since i've alreayd had a barium test years ago when this problem started, he suggested a scope he said that the blood test for the h pylori isn't 100% so he'll do a biopsy on my stomach to see if i do have the bacteria. He thinks i might have a stomach lining that doesnt' work as well as it should or maybe a small ulcer... I AM SO SCARED!!! does a scope hurt?? he said i'dhave to have an IV, that was the WORST part about my surgery, honestly!!! the nurse was horrible at it... i'm so upset... i reallyw ant to find out what is wrong, but i don't want a scope has anyone had it done and can make me feel better??? |

| When it rains, it pours! Sorry you still haven't bounced back. Could it be GURD - acid reflux? My dtr is having a hard time with that. My stepson has it so bad, he has to eat small bites at an incredible slow rate. I do hope it's nothing serious. My sson had the scope and I don't remember him saying it was bad. He was young, too. Prayers that everything gets taken care of soon - and painlessly - so you can live a normal life.

| I haven't had an endoscopy done, but my mom had one to confirm her gallbladder problems. I believe you are anesthetized in twilight form so you don't feel anything. Hope all the tests turn out okay and you're feeling better real soon!!

| Just had one done (for the second time) about 2 weeks ago...a piece of cake. No pain, except for a little stick for the IV. They give you whacky juice and about 15 minutes later you wake up feeling wonderful and it's all over. I LOVE whacky juice. Good luck, Patty |

| Oh Marci...I am sooo sorry! I read somewhere that a simple breath test (maybe a BPI or something...I will try to find it), can determine an overgrowth of bacteria in your stomache, intestines, etc. I have had stomach problems all of my life too....yuck....my newest thing is the lactose free and watching the gluten amounts in foods......it is a never ending battle. I am having surgery on my thyroid pretty soon.....yuck....they said he causes lots of infections (whatever I have wrong with mine) and messes with your whole body! I sure hope you get well soon! Big hugs to you!!!

| If you ever need to talk about it, I'm happy to help! I've had too many scopes to count over the years. If you're having an Endoscopy, don't worry. They spray some numbing stuff in your throat, and the most you will feel (if anything) is gagging when they first put the scope in. It doesn't hurt at all. I have had many Colonoscopies too. Here in the U.S., they sedate you before they do these tests. Alot of times I don't even remember the procedure. Try not to worry. The tests sound much worse than they really are. I promise!

| Oh, my dear, I'm praying that this will give you some answers finally. Don't be frightened of this procedure. I've had it done and I'm a baby when it comes to stuff like this. If it hurts when they do your iv, ask for a local to numb your hand first. Please let us know what the results are. Wonderful way to spend a summer??

| yeah the scopes not bad at all. I had one a few years back (a colonoscopy too, that was the awful part) I was sick for a few months straight. Felt ill, had heartburn from hell etc. Found out I have acid reflux. Pills fixed me up, for the most part. If you have issues with the iv, let them know so they don't get some newbie on ya I hate needles so I know how you feel.

| The doctor that I work for does EGD's. You will be given demeral and versed for what is called "twilight sleep". You will not be "put under" but you won't remember anything. I have assisted with a few and it appears the worst part is swallowing the tube. Hopefully you will have a better experience with the IV this time. Good luck with everything! I hope they find out what's causing your pain and get you all fixed up!!

| I had it done a few months ago. The meds they give you in the IV are GREAT! You dont know or care what they are doing. I went to sleep, and woke up and it was done. They arent trying to put you out, but many people do sleep. Hope you feel better soon.

BANNED FOR NOT MAILING PRODUCTS PURCHASED | awwww Marci, I'm so sorry hun. when you go to have the IV put in, make sure you insist that you have a nurse who is experienced and knows what the crap she is doing! I honestly can feel your pain on that, when I had to have an IV put in I had a nurse in training and I swear she had to poke me 4 times and I was getting so pissed! So you need to be upfront with them and tell them how it's going to be! I have never had a scope before, so I have no idea if it will hurt or not. Keep us posted hun! BIG HUGS!!!! |
