| Be Safe A tip every one should know: Put your car keys beside your bed at night. If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies. This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator. AND IT WORKS. Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this: It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Just press the panic alarm on your car key chain. TEST IT! It will go off from most everywhere inside your house whether you park in your car in the driveway or garage. If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break in your house, odds are the burglar or rapist won't stick around. After a few seconds all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won't want that. Try yours to make sure it works before you rely on it. Just know that you must press the alarm button again to turn it off. And remember to carry your car keys when walking to your car in a parking lot/garage. The alarm can work the same way there. This is something that should really be shared with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or a sexual abuse crime. A friend just sent me this. I think it's a great idea Carol & Buddy |

| ^Thanks for the tip! I always thought of using my panic button if I see someone trying to break in my car only, I never thought of using it as a house alarm as well!

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | That's a great tip. My neighborhood has so many home invasions lately when I hear a noise I wait to hear barking dogs - if I hear THAT then I'm up for real....never thought to do the key thing....the good thing about that is for those that misplace their keys alot - they'll always know where they are too |

| Here's another tip If your remote won't turn on the car alarm from your bedroom - hold the remote up to your head, touching your head and push the button. Your head acts as an antenna and it will likely activate the horn. You can use this trick in the parking lot when you have lost your car - oh oh, I mean forgotten where you parked It will give you more distance to turn on the alarm and find your car. My son-in-law told me about this - it works! My remote won't turn on the car horn from my bedroom, unless I hold the remote up to my head - go figure!

| panic button You know that is a great suggest....I always thought instead of an alarm in the house, it would be better to have one that blasted like an air raid siren outside...!! |

| One night when I was leaving work late there was a weird guy hanging around near the door. This was in a shopping center, but we were on the end and a bit isolated from the rest. Finally, I got tired of waiting for him to go away and used my keys to set off my alarm. Thankfully, it is one where the horn beeps off and on. Folks still look at those where the other kind generally get ignored. The guy left immediately, which told me he was up to no good. This was a good post and I thank you for it. |

| I have actually done this before.I was alone,Dh working out of town and I was a big chicken. If I thought I heard a noise outside I would turn my alarm off and on. I bet my neighbors hated me. |

| Thanx for the tip! Princess is my security alarm... every sound she hears, whether it be the wind or a car coming to our house in the middle of the night, she gets up ASAP and starts barking |

| I have always kept my finger on the alarm button when walking alone to my car but never thought about using it from inside the house. I always thought of setting off the fire alarms. That's a great tip, thanks, Carol.
