| i just use my electric skillet for anything that I would cook on the stove - but I guess I use it most often to cook things that need to be simmered for a while - like things where you add raw rice and liquid and you have to simmer it till the liquid is absorbed and the rice is tender. I'm not too good with recipes - I just usually throw in things that I like. One thing I make and always use the electric skillet for is Spanish Rice. Brown a lb (or 1/2 lb) of hamburger cut up onion and green pepper and brown with hamb drain off fat add 1-2 cups of minute rice, depending on how much you want to make and then add the same amount of liquid in the form of tomato sauce, catsup or any kind of combination of tomatoey liquid that you like - e.g., rotel. I usually put in a can of chopped tomatoes and a can or two of chopped green chilies then I use whatever mexican seasoning that I have on hand: cumin, red pepper, chili pepper, tobasco sauce, etc I usually throw in some salsa that I have in the refridgerator As you can see my "recipe" is pretty "loosey goosey"! Then I simmer it all together - till the rice is done - but it can simmer for as long as you need it to. If it gets dry, just add more water, catsup, tomato sauce, or some liquid. This will also make a great stuffing for stuffed peppers. Sometimes we eat it as an entree and sometimes it is a side dish.

| Having 4 children I used my electric skillet alot throughout the years because it was big and non stick. Here is one of my families favorites. 2 lbs hamb 1 diced onion 1 diced bell pepper 1 egg beaten Season to taste with salt, pepper, garlic salt Mix together and form patties. They should be pretty fat (not smashed down like hamburgers) Coat each patty with flour and brown in skillet with a little bit of olive oil. (they will not be cooked on the inside) Mix together a can of cream of mushroom and cream of chicken soup and pour on top of meat. Put lid on and simmer for about 25-30 minutes or until meat is cooked. Serve with rice.

| When we redid our kitchen and were without appliances for awhile, I used my electric skillet for almost EVERYTHING, lol. I'll give some thought to fave recipes, but agree with above poster, they work for anything you can do on the stovetop.

| Hi Patti, I love cooking barbacued chicken in mine which reminds me I might do that today. A whole chicken cut up(or just use whatever parts you like) bottle of barbacue sauce I can of regular coke salt and pepper chicken add to skillet pour the barbacue sauce evenly over the chicken slowly poor the coke in around the side of the pan so you leave the barbacue sauce on the chicken .Cover and cook at 350 for 45-55 minutes. |

Hi Shadow, Jack and I will enjoy some BBQ chicken today thanks for the recipe. When it comes to eating, nothing beats home cooking Always looking for something new to fix. Have you ever used your electric skillet to bake cakes or used it for baking? The leaflet says it can be used for baking. Thanks to all for replying to this thread. Patti and Jack | |

| Hi, I bake cornbread in mine all the time. Same recipe you use for baking, just add a little oil or grease to the skillet and roll it around really well to coat liberally. I love cooking a pot roast in mine. That's all I use anymore. Don't have to heat up the oven, room for all the veggies and one pot for all - you can make the gravy last. Same method as in-oven or stove-top. I often coat the pan with a little oil, add a box of stuffing mix croutons and sprinkle the packet of sasoning over them. Lay 3 or 4 chicken breasts on top, then a piece of swiss or mild cheddar cheese on each breast. Pour a can of your favorite cream soup over all and one can of water and cook covered for 45 minutes. Yummy! |
