| Toy Mini Poodles Okay, I thought I would ask..... My daughter has been torn between getting a small female Yorkie or black poodle. But, she feel in love w/ a friends poodle, so I think that is her choice now. Does anyone know much about poodles....we are going for the smaller ones (not tiny teacups, but the small range). We have found a few, but if you know of anyone that has one for sale or raises them...that would be great. I have checked out info sites on the breed and my aunt had a teacup ones years and years ago. Thanks for any info....oh, my daughter is looking for a small black female poodle....poodle or Yorkie were our choices due to allergies, etc. AND they are just plain cute! Plus, we think Mojo needs a little sister around the house! AND we definitely want a girl to dress up and spoil too!

| I had a white male poodle many years ago. I named him after my dad (Francis) and my husband (Richard). It sounded like this...Reechard Franswa (supposedly French..LOL) and I called him Franny. Smartest little dog I ever had. I swear he could understand everything I said. He lived to be 14 years old and then had a stroke. He was so sweet and smart.

| poodles are extremely smart and from what my friend has, extremely loyal. my groomer has 3 standard size PINK poodles that are beautiful and wonderful with everyone. i have never known them to be barkers either. easy to train.

| I have a black toy poodle. She is extremely affectionate and smart. Very easy to potty train and great for apartment living. Poodles come in toy (smallest), mini and standard.

| I had the sweetest little black tiny toy poodle about 35 years ago. He was so smart & cute. I think he probably weighed about 3#. To this day, I still miss him and for some reason, I've missed him even more since I got Little Bit. She is about his size and just makes me think of him & how special he was. I don't think your daughter will be unhappy with a toy poodle. |

| Katelyn just loves our friends white poodle "Sugar" (Sugar Cookie), but she said that she would prefer a black one. Although, I am sure she would love to have a white one colored pink! - Plus, that would match her "Paris" room! HA! Sugar is 3lbs and full grown and the perfect size. She doesn't look that little though. I found one in OK, close by, so I need to call her. Also, found one in LR, AR. so that isn't far away either.....they had some chocolate ones, black and apricot. My aunt (years ago) had a little black poodle (course, he had turned gray or silver...whatever it is called due to his age)....his name was Buttons....so cute! He wasn't a barker either, but you read that poodles are "barkers". She never trained hers not to bark and he wasn't timid or anything either. I guess, you really can't go by what you read about any dog.......I was told that Yorkies were really timid and would hide when people came.....well, that is just not the case in our house! So, you just never know. Again, I think it is all how they were raised and their environment.

| I saw a show once where this lady had two white toy poodles and she took them to get dyed pink every month or so. They showed how they did it and the poor poodles looked so miserable. I can't see how can't be bad for them.

| I saw one in a store I went a few weeks ago that was black and so pretty! They kinda remind me of yorkies in that they always kinda look like puppies.

| My toy poodle, Daxton, passed away 2.5 years ago at the age of 15. He was the sweetest, most laid-back baby. I kinda thought that was NOT the norm because other people always thought poodles were yappy. Dax was a "red poodle"..... not apricot - but a rich copper penny red. The red color is an AKC recognized color. He got lighter in his old age. He weighed about 7 pounds at his ideal weight. I grew up with a little bit larger poodle and wanted one after moving away from home because I loved them so and because of the allergy issues. The one thing I want to say about getting a black one is that if black is really what you want, be sure to talk to someone with more experience with that color to make sure that the black puppy you get will STAY black. I originally wanted a black one also but was told that gray/silver ones start out as black puppies and the main way to tell if they'll change is to look at the hair between the pads on their paws and if there is any white, supposedly they will more than likely turn gray/silver. Can't prove that personally because when I saw this litter of red poodles, I fell in love and stopped looking for a black. And yes, I think at one time I read somewhere that the poodle was #1 on the chart for smart dogs! Good luck in your search!

| My grandmother had two poodles. One was supposed to be a teacup, but ended up being huge. Not fat, just sturdy & solid as a rock. The other was like 6lbs. To be honest, I'm not a poodle person & never really did like them much. Hers barked a lot. Hers were white. I do think that the black ones are cuter, though.
