| Calling all Mom's... I thought it would be fun to share the stories of the day/night your children were born. Here's mine... My doctor scheduled my delivery because I was 5 cm dialated and I was on bed rest. I had gone into labor three times before and they had to stop it because it was too early and because Mia was still too small. I went in to the hospital the night before because they wanted to monitor the baby for a while before they started the induction. My mom and my sister spent the night with me. We had the best time! We were all too excited to sleep! They finally started the induction at 8am. All seemed fine at first. I was still laughing and having a good time. My water broke at 8:30 and I was still ok. I really was not in any pain then all the sudden it hit me. I have never screamed for drugs like that in my entire life! They could not give me the epidural because the "guy with the good drugs" (don't know how to spell the technical name so we will just refer to him as "the guy with the good drugs") was assisting with an emergency c-section. So I had to wait, still at 5 cm and it was 10 am. My dad was telling me to breath and I finally had just had it with him and I yelled, "What do you know, you've never had a baby before". My sister high tailed it out of there the first time I mentioned pain. I started begging for my mom and aunt to go find my husband so that I could kill him for doing this to me (we were seperated at the time and he was no where to be found even though he knew about the date of delivery). They finally came in at 11 am, I was so ready! They checked me, I was still at 5 cm and they gave me the epidural. It worked great for all of 10 minutes, then I felt cramps on the right side. They figured that I had a "hot spot". The guy with the good drugs came in again and gave me a shot, it did nothing, it was 11:30 am, they decided to check me again on the off chance that I was ready to deliver and guess what.. I was at 10cm and she was crowning! They rushed and got everything ready yelling the whole time for me not to push (oh I wanted to push so bad!). My doctor was in the middle of a delivery in the next room, I had to wait for her to finish. I was in hell! She finally got there at noon and Mia was born at 12:10, three pushes and she was out! We got it all on video (from above the bed) and the look on the doctors face still makes me laugh! Mia wanted out BAD! She was beautiful.. 7lb 1oz and 19 inches long. She had a full head of jet black hair and the biggest eyes I had ever seen!

| My baby was born May 30th! We've got alot of May babies! Here's my story. It was about 6:30pm & I started bleeding alot so I went to the hospital (I thought the placenta was coming out 1st & I was panicking!). I got there & they did an ultrasound & I stayed there for 3 hrs & then finally they told me everything was ok & I could go home because I wasn't in labor. I sign out & get in the elevator & my water breaks! I went back & I was like so I'm not in labor huh? This was about 9:30 & I was at a 3. I get in my room & I'm trying to wait as long as possible for the epidural & I make it till I get to a 5 & I can't stand it anymore! I get my epidural at about 1am. By 5am I am at 10 & they tell me I can push. (Oh--I had to get my epidural upped 3 times because I was still in so much pain!) I pushed for 2 hours!!! I thought I was going to die or pass out! Finally at 8:25 she was born! She had a headful of jet black hair & weighed in at 8lbs even! I had bruises on my stomach & abs from pushing so long! But it was so worth it in the end!! Can't wait to do it again! haha!!

| I was set to deliver naturally when a nurse checked me and noticed Alexa Rae was in breech position so they did a c section. That went fine the first thing we heard when Alexa Rae was born was screaming. When she was at the nurses station they would bring her to me because she was screaming so much. You could always hear her coming. She is now 5 and still is a screamer. She is a very sensitive child too.

| Hmm, lets see! Where do I begin! I have three kids! So I could go on all day! With my first son, I was 37 weeks pregnant, everything was going great, I went out to eat at cracker barrel with my family! Then I went to the bathroom and noticed a little blood. Which as most of you know is "bloody show". No big deal, I just knew that I would be going into labor shortly. So I went on with my day! Needless to say I started contracting around 3 in the afternoon. Didn't go to the hospital though, that night we had a family halloween party, still contracting, I went anyway! That was so much fun! LOL Then the next day I was still having the contractions, they had gotten stronger through the night, but were still tollerable. About 1 in the afternoon I was in quite a bit of pain, so I went to the hospital. They sent me back home that night because I was only 2 centimeters dialated, and water was not broke. Went through terrible contractions all through the night! Got up the next morning and laid down on the couch, and I swear not a minute later, my water broke! All over everything! I felt so bad, because I still lived with my parents! Their poor couch was scarred for life! We went to the hospital and they addmitted me. I continued to have the contractions for a while, but they were not making me dialate at all! So they decided to stay pitocin! As many of you know, that is just a party in itself right there!! So I continued to labor, with no pain meds, they would not let you have any meds until you were 4 centimeters dialated. Of course now they know that it doesn't matter, they will let you have one here right when you walk through the door! And they had me on the strongest dose of the pitocin! It was hell on earth! They finally came in and checked me and I was 5 centimeters dialated! And what do you know, the anistesiologist was with another patient! So I would have to wait! So I got up to go to the bathroom, and I felt a lot of pressure! My mom was outside the door of the bathroom and I told her! She called the nurse, who came in to check on me, and she said oh my! you are complete! Don't push! It was all I could do not to push him out! Finally everything was ready, and two pushes later, he was here, his name is Kobe, he is 6lbs, 7oz, and 19 3/4 inches long! He was perfect. And I never did get the epidural by the way! Had to go all natural through the entire thing!!! With my second son, I was 36 weeks, had lots of complications with my heart and blood pressure though out the end of the pregnancy. I went to the hospital because of my heart beating so fast. And my doc said that she wanted me to try to hold off until monday to have him. So she sent me home that night, and not even an hour after being there, my water broke. So off we went back to the hsopital, back to labor and delivery, and I got my epidural!!!!! I was determined to get that one! Because they had to give the pitocin again! My body just won't do it on its own I guess! So I demanded an epidural before the pitocin. After that, I felt wonderful, and he was born at 7 pm. and he was 8lbs, 2oz. And his poor little face was black and blue because he was born face up! I felt so bad, but he came so fast that they couldn't turn him!! My third son, as most of you know already was born pre-mature! And that was the worst experience ever!!! I hope none of youi ever have to go through that hell. My water broke at 32 weeks, the labor was awful, I had the epidural, so the pain was fine, but his little heart would drop after all the contractions. The doctor was really worried about him, because I was in labor with my water broke for more that 24 hours, which can cause infection. So they almost did a c-section. But they gave me another 30 minutes to make some progress, and he did! He was born at 6:53 pm, on May 17, 2005. And he was so tiny! His little lungs collapsed shortly after birth and he had to be put on a ventilator. He was in the nicu for almost a month, and to this day he still has some health issues. But I thank god everyday for all my boys!!

| Carlei was born June 10th. 5lbs 15oz 17 inches 3:22am I went into my scheduled appt 4 days before my due date, I went early with my first so they said I was going against statistics... The week before I started having contractions and was dialated to 2... so at this appt she says we can strip your cervix, if it works you'll have the baby somewhere w/in 8-10 hours. So she stripped it, I went walking as she suggested, the contractions upped a little, but nothing painful or anything. Husband gets home about 10:30pm, we watch a movie, contractions were 4-7 minutes but sporadic (sp), at 12:30pm we go to bed, stay up and talk till 1:13am, contractions were getting more regular, but nothing painful. At 1:43am my water broke, it hurt.. after that, I was in full force labor... I finally get to the hospital, they said I was dilated to 5. They asked me what pain meds I wanted, I didn't know. My contractions were so painful this time around I could barely breathe. They were checking me about every 5-10 minutes and I was dilating steadily, so unfortunately no meds.. they kept making me switch positions on the bed because her heart rate kept dropping, I think it dropped 4 times within the time they got me hooked up...then all of a sudden, I had to push, I was only there about 20 minutes.. doc checks and tells me I'm ready I think I pushed 4 or 5 times and it was AWFUL! Come to find out she was facing up, so it made everything worse doc said... She cried before she came out, the doc was like "what was that, oh my goodness she's talking already and with quite a personality" Lol.. it was awesome... Not sure that I'm ready to do it again though lol

| What great stories Here's mine: My first was born on January 10th at 2:31 in the morning. Had gone to the doctor on the 9th and he put me in to induce as I was at 4cm (and each week for the past 3 weeks, I had dialated a cm). His due date was not until January 22nd. Doc didn't think I'd go another week and I asked to just put me in. Epidural worked GREAT for me, first strong contraction, I was begging for it...LOL!!! Had a great delivery, no problems, only thing I hated was that I had to wait 6 hours after his delivery to get out of bed (to make sure the affects of the epidural had worn off). After 2 days, I brought that wonderful bundle of joy home With my second, I had decided to skip the epidural (call me crazy!!) but I really wanted to be able to get up and move around shortly after delivery and the only way was to not have one. Same thing happened with Taylor as it did with TJ. His due date was January 26th and I had begun to dialate right after TJ's 3rd birthday. I begged the doctor to put me in and break my water (different doc this time as we had moved from Metairie, LA to where we are now) but he wouldn't....even after I told him about TJ and his delivery. Finally, on February 8th, I went in and was 5cm, no active labor, and he said he'd give me another week. I told him that Taylor was already 2 weeks overdue and I wanted him out NOW!!! I told him either he scheduled to put me in and induce or I would find a doctor that would. That got his attention and he scheduled to induce the next day. Due to hubby's work schedule, we changed it to the 10th of February instead of the 9th. So, on the morning of the 10th, I went in, had my water broken at 8:30 and....nothing!!! No progression whatsoever. I started feeling "crampy" around 10:00 but nothing worse than menstrual cramps and I was handling those just fine (except for hubby sitting there saying, "Dayum, did you feel that one??"). Nurse came in at noon and checked me, still at 5cm...she said I prolly wouldn't have him before 5:00 that afternoon. Well, he must've heard her and got really upset cause 5 minutes later....pain struck! Hubby was great, our lamaze classes helped cause he jumped right up telling me to focus and just breath. I was able to "handle" the contractions but there came a point, about 12:25, where I said enough, bring the drugs! Then I felt a tremendous urge to go to the bathroom (having an epidural with the first baby, I didn't "know" it was time to push!!). Hubby went to get the nurse and told her what was going on...she came back in and told me there was no way I could be ready as she had just checked me not 30 minutes ago. Well, after she checked me, she came flying up, threw the bottom part of the bed across the room (broke a lamp), got hubby's scrubs and told him to get them on if he wanted to see his son born, then turned to me all calm and collected and said, "honey, whatever you do, don't push!!". She paged the doctor, he got there a couple minutes later, and at 12:51, Taylor was here! And no, I was not able to get up shortly after his birth. I had partial placenta previa (thankfully, placenta was not in a position to prevent my having natural childbirth) but when Taylor was born, the placenta tore away causing me to hemmorhage. I was confined to the bed until the next morning with iv still in place in case they had to give me blood. And again, thankfully, I did not need to receive any blood but was very weak for several days after delivery. The funniest part was when my sister-in-law called from Chicago and asked if we were going to plan our next baby's birthday to be March 10th! I had to laugh but I also told her there would be NO next time - 2 healthy boys were just perfect for us My "baby" will be 13 this Friday - I can't believe I will have TWO teenage boys in the house!!! | The night my daughter Elizabeth was born...4-7-90 was the most amazing night of my life. To start things off we had a freak snow storm...now this was the night before her due date and all of my experienced mom friends had told me that first babies are always late so my husband and I went grocery shopping and bought all of my favorite strange food that I was craving to make the wait more fun. Well around 10:00 that night I felt funny and went into the bathroom and my water broke. We called my doctor and he said it was probably a urine leak Let's face it...no one goes to the bathroom like that. My husband and I pulled a Lucy and Ricky Ricardo trip to the hospital...we had to turn around because we forgot my suitcase that had been packed for weeks and by the door.Once there I was placed in a birthing room...I was the only mom to be delivering that night...the night before 25 women gave birth, some were even in the hallway....I had all the nurses to myself all night..My contractions stopped and I was given pitocin (sp?) to speed my delivery...I kept saying "When do I get my epidural" the ob nurse misread my cervix and when my doctor came in he said that it was too late for an epidural I was ready to push..so I did and Lizzy was born 8lbs14oz. No medication for me...it really hurt but I was amazed at what my body could do and my daughter is the absolute light of my life.I wouldn't let my husband take any pictures or videos of me so all of the pictures I have are of the room and monitors. I often remember the miracle of that night and cherish the photo I have of my husband holding Elizabeth for the first time. He died of cancer 9 years later and a day doesn't go by that we don't think about his amazing and kind heart. His daughter shares his wonderful smile and spirit so in a way I see him everyday.

| Great Stories! We'll here are my stories there are four, so I will try to keep them short! Well I got pregnant with my first in high school! I was 20 weeks when I started to diolate! And I was put on bedrest! I went into labor when I was 24 weeks and they stoped it! Then I was put on an even more strict bedrest! Then at 27 weeks and 2 days I went into the hospital again and the I even on the mag (magnesium solfate (which is what they give to stop early labor and to stop seizures for pre-eclamptic women)this word will be use again later) was still having one contraction an hour until 3:30 a.m.on the day I turned 28 weeks! Then They were comeing almost back to back and I went from 4c diolated and 50% efaced to 7c and 100% In ten mins! They asked If I wanted an epidural, of course I said yes! They gave it to me in hopes to calm me down and slow down the labor! But the sec that I laid back down and they epidural had barely started to work he was crowning! And that was it he was born screaming! The First baby of his age to be born at that hospital breathing on his own! What a miracle! Then he had some trouble and had to have sergery and died at 18 days old! Then my husband went into the military and we got pregnant right away! They told us that b/c we had only had our son three months before that that I would not carry this baby past 20weeks! Well they were wrong I carried to 37 and was diagnosed with pre-eclamsia and was induced! They put me on patocine to start the contractions and mag to keep me from have seizures! The labor wasn't easy, but was only 9 hours long! I got the epidural as soon as they broke my water, but that was not a good idea b/c by that time I was ready to have her the epidural had wore off not mention that I had already been pushing for two hours! Well I push for another hour and out she came! No epidural left by then and it was quite painful! She was another first baby she was the first baby to be born at that hospital face first (literally face looking strait at you as she came out)! My little girl is now 3 yrs old! Then after my hubby came back from his first tour in Iraq we got pregnant again! Woo Hoo! Well this pegnancy was easy and was a quick labor also! I went in to my thirty week appt. and was diolated to 2c and 70% ! Well for me that was normal and they said they wanted to keep and eye on me, but there was a prob my hubby got orders to move to Ft.Campbell, Ky! Well we moved here on the 20 of Nov. and on the 26 he desided he was ready so I was 35 weeks and it was 8 hours of labor! I was so happy it was the easiest so far! We we so happy we had one boy and one girl and we were done, or so we thought! Our son Landen is now 1 yr old! We found out that he was going to Iraq for the second time in March 05! And then much to both of our suprize we found out I was pregnant again in April! Well Let just say it was a big big suprize! Anyway this is the most confusing one of all! With all my other kids I normally started to diolate early as I did with this one but with all the othe babies one little contraction help even the slitest bit! I was 36 weeks when I started contracting on Wed. the 18 of Jan! I started contracting at 7p.m. I waited till they got a little closer, but they never did they just stayed spuratic, but they got more painful! So at 5p.m. on the 19th I desided to go to the hospital! Well, I was at 3c and 60%! They told me to go home and walk for two hours! I came back and I had not changed! They sent me back home and told me it would be a while and told me to try to get some sleep! Well I did and at 3a.m. on the 20th my contractions stoped! And I thought that was so strange! Well then at 6a.m. my water broke (with all the other kids they had to break my water for me) and I went back to the hospital! Well I had not started contracting again yet! Then at 12p.m. they put me on patocine to start me contracting and 6 hours later he was born! My hubby was not here for this one, and he would be disapointed b/c this one would have been the one that I would have been nicest through! Lets just say that was the best epidural of all four! So now we have had four kids and have three beautiful babies! Well that is all my stories I tried to keep then as short as possible and still get all the things that happened in there! Well It was fun! Ttyl! Paula |

| Fun reading all the stories! My pregnancy's were Great, no complications. 1st one...Justin David born 2/3/89.......I was 3 days overdue, so my Dr. induced labor. All was going smoothly, got an epidural at 6, dialated to 7 for hours and hours and....finally the Dr. said...he's not gonna fit. He's not even in the birth canal yet, so they did a C-section. Yep, he was too big for me....9'6 and 24 inches long. My own little 2 ft. baby. Next one went more smoothly, a scheduled repeat C. LOL. for my beautiful daughter.....Julia Rose born 11/23/92 |

| Here's mine: The doctors thought I wouldn't be able to deliver naturally, but I did. I wanted to give birth in a birthing tub, but they didn't have them in my area. My daughter was about 5 days over do (did about three stress tests, etc). From my morning doctor appt. on April 20th, I went straight home to get my stuff together (didn't even have it ready) and called everyone because I was going to the hospital. Got to the hospital around noon got induced around 1:30ish or so...had to walk and walk around that wing for hours that day!!! My labor finally started at 7:55 pm and I had her naturally with no meds at 9:45pm that night. YES, that isn't a typo...my first one, that fast! Everyone was surprised that she come out naturally and so fast (although she was blue because she was stuck inside the canal and had to go straight to the chamber). No complications whatsoever, other than that. The only thing we missed was my husband getting to cut the cord and holding her as soon as she came out. My husband and mother went in the room with me - they said I was picking them up off the floor when I squeezed their hands! HA! My mother in law videotaped me the whole time before I went in the delivery room, when they brought her out and when I was ready to come out. The funny part on the video, the nurse brings out a boy (everyone was thinking it was going to be a boy - I think they just wanted one, since we have so many girls in my family), so you hear everyone cheer as the nurse holds that poor baby boy up without a blankie or diaper on....then, the right nurse comes out with a girl....course, they all cheered just as loud for her too! She was 7.9lbs and 22 inches long. She is 11 now and is 5'3 and skinny! I had to stay two nights waiting on paperwork to get finished, but that was okay....we had a beautiful, healthy baby girl.
