What great stories Here's mine:

My first was born on January 10th at 2:31 in the morning. Had gone to the doctor on the 9th and he put me in to induce as I was at 4cm (and each week for the past 3 weeks, I had dialated a cm). His due date was not until January 22nd. Doc didn't think I'd go another week and I asked to just put me in. Epidural worked GREAT for me, first strong contraction, I was begging for it...LOL!!! Had a great delivery, no problems, only thing I hated was that I had to wait 6 hours after his delivery to get out of bed (to make sure the affects of the epidural had worn off). After 2 days, I brought that wonderful bundle of joy home

With my second, I had decided to skip the epidural (call me crazy!!) but I really wanted to be able to get up and move around shortly after delivery and the only way was to not have one. Same thing happened with Taylor as it did with TJ. His due date was January 26th and I had begun to dialate right after TJ's 3rd birthday. I begged the doctor to put me in and break my water (different doc this time as we had moved from Metairie, LA to where we are now) but he wouldn't....even after I told him about TJ and his delivery. Finally, on February 8th, I went in and was 5cm, no active labor, and he said he'd give me another week. I told him that Taylor was already 2 weeks overdue and I wanted him out NOW!!! I told him either he scheduled to put me in and induce or I would find a doctor that would. That got his attention and he scheduled to induce the next day. Due to hubby's work schedule, we changed it to the 10th of February instead of the 9th. So, on the morning of the 10th, I went in, had my water broken at 8:30 and....nothing!!! No progression whatsoever. I started feeling "crampy" around 10:00 but nothing worse than menstrual cramps and I was handling those just fine (except for hubby sitting there saying, "Dayum, did you feel that one??"). Nurse came in at noon and checked me, still at 5cm...she said I prolly wouldn't have him before 5:00 that afternoon. Well, he must've heard her and got really upset cause 5 minutes later....pain struck! Hubby was great, our lamaze classes helped cause he jumped right up telling me to focus and just breath. I was able to "handle" the contractions but there came a point, about 12:25, where I said enough, bring the drugs! Then I felt a tremendous urge to go to the bathroom (having an epidural with the first baby, I didn't "know" it was time to push!!). Hubby went to get the nurse and told her what was going on...she came back in and told me there was no way I could be ready as she had just checked me not 30 minutes ago. Well, after she checked me, she came flying up, threw the bottom part of the bed across the room (broke a lamp), got hubby's scrubs and told him to get them on if he wanted to see his son born, then turned to me all calm and collected and said, "honey, whatever you do, don't push!!". She paged the doctor, he got there a couple minutes later, and at 12:51, Taylor was here! And no, I was not able to get up shortly after his birth. I had partial placenta previa (thankfully, placenta was not in a position to prevent my having natural childbirth) but when Taylor was born, the placenta tore away causing me to hemmorhage. I was confined to the bed until the next morning with iv still in place in case they had to give me blood. And again, thankfully, I did not need to receive any blood but was very weak for several days after delivery. The funniest part was when my sister-in-law called from Chicago and asked if we were going to plan our next baby's birthday to be March 10th! I had to laugh but I also told her there would be NO next time - 2 healthy boys were just perfect for us

My "baby" will be 13 this Friday - I can't believe I will have TWO teenage boys in the house!!!
