| I know there was a thread like this before, but let me see if I can recall all of my favorites, LOL. There is really so many, I'm a big movie buff. Most Tom Hanks movies, but my favorites of his would be Road to Perdition, Forrest Gump (all time favorite, I think), Cast Away, Big, The Green Mile, Philadelphia. The Shawshank Redemption. Schindler's List.... Pay It Forward (OMG tearfest!)... ummm, love young Leo DiCaprio like in What's Eating Gilbert Grape. Secret Window with Johnny Depp. As far as animated, most Pixar movies - Finding Nemo, all Toy Story's, Monsters Inc, The Incredibles, etc. One of my new favorites - The Help! LOVE this movie. Haven't seen anything like it for a loonnggg time. I think I'd also place The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo up there. Ummm... The Sixth Sense of course. Oh, how could I forget Mystic River? Another all-time favorite. Comedies... I LOVE Liar Liar and could watch it again and again. Click with Adam Sandler. Also like Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler's more serious films like Reign Over Me and The Truman Show (that's been a fave of mine since I was really young for some reason). Another one that I find odd that I love so much: A Beautiful Mind. All in subtitles and I generally HATE subtitles. I was only around 11 years old when I watched this movie and so odd, but I can remember it being a favorite of mine, which most 11 year olds would NOT even want to sit thru it, but I found it fascinating. I am sure I am missing a lot, but oh well.

| Oops, just saw the "non critically acclaimed part" - some of mine definitely were and won Oscar's or were nominated, lol.

| OMG, I LOVED that movie. lol. But I tend to like movies like that - that really focus on, just... humanity and heart. Don't really need a huge plot, or any action, or major drama. Just pure emotion. I thought Clooney did amazing at dealing with his character's emotions - even looking into his eyes at times you could see what he was going through. Also had bits of dry humor that I just loved.

If you like great plots and low special effects, there are hundreds of great old B&W movies. My absolute favourite thing to do on a Sunday morning is have my coffee while snuggling my puppy and watch whatever is on the Turner Classic Movies channel.

I am not sure if we get Turner Classic Movies channel, but have you yet seen The Artist? I heard great things about it - apparently it's a silent B&W movie, but was made last year.

| Have not seen Schindler's List. I have had it for years and have been wanting to watch it, but have never felt in the mood as I know it will be emotional. I will force myself to watch it this weekend. Tried watching Crash but couldn't make it past the scene that was so disturbing. Again, I know I need to, so will make it a point to watch it soon as well. |

You will need tissues for sure for Crash and Schindler's List. I've watched the latter about 4 times and every single time I cry my head off at the end and feel the need to go save people!!!
