I'm with you, britster. I love movies that are about people and emotions. One of my favourites was American Beauty; I also love Schindler's List, All About Eve, Crash, Driving Miss Daisy, Fried Green Tomatoes, Steel Magnolias, Norma Rae, Forrest Gump.
If you like great plots and low special effects, there are hundreds of great old B&W movies. My absolute favourite thing to do on a Sunday morning is have my coffee while snuggling my puppy and watch whatever is on the Turner Classic Movies channel.
