| That is an awesome camera! More camera than I have and I take photos for a living. Mine is the 1D Mark II - less pixels but faster on the frames per minute (I think). You won't be sorry if you get that camera but depending on your ultimate goal in photography, you might consider something a couple of notches down. It is definitely in the "pro" category of cameras. If you do get it, you'll be very happy. If you want alternatives, 1D Mark II, 20D, 5D Lisa oops -- forgot to comment on the lens. Your camera will only be as good as the glass that you put in front of it. If you're going to drop that much on a camera, go for the 70-200/2.8 IS lens instead. It is pro-level and will give you much sharper images. The IS is a great feature as well.

| Thank you so much Lisa, I was just looking at the lens. I showed my husband and he thinks I should get the camera and the better lens. This is the right one, right.

| If you're attempting to go pro, then only buy the best glass that you can afford. I use all "L" lens and you should aim for the same. For the wedding, you will need something wide - 16-35/2.8 L or the newer version (if there is a newer -- this is off the top of my head). You'll need to probably have a good mid-zoom like the 24-70/2.8L. You can pick up good used lenses at http://fredmiranda.com in their buy/sell forum. I've sold and bought a few there myself. Also check out http://keh.com out of Atlanta. Sometimes they have used lens for sale. Even their "bargain" quality used lenses are great quality - as reported by several pro photogs I know. We NEED to chat! I can help you find everything you need to get yourself set up. I've been there and done that!!! Lsia

| That would be great. I'm a bit clueless right now. I am very excited about the classes. I missed the fall deadline so I have to wait til spring. I want to get everything I need to get started by April (when my classes start). I'm going to go ahead and buy the camera in the morning and after looking a little more the lens that you suggested. I'm going to bed, but I really look forward to talking to you. Thanks so much, Tricia

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | I can't say anything Carter's Mom didn't. Excellent advice, including a lot of stuff I didn't know. I bought the first digital rebel, 6.1 megapixels, I think. It's been durable, dependable and takes great pix. I can't even image a 16.7 megapixel camera. You might want to think about how you're going to store all those pixtures. I'm filling up my 40 gig external hard drive relatively fast.
