| I have another netbook question Okay, so I ordered my daughters netbook for Christmas. Can anyone help me with what I need for her to be able wake up Christmas morning and play with it? I have never owned any kind of laptop before so I don't really know what I'm doing. Does it come with what I need to have it hooked up and ready? Or do I need to buy something else? I imagine that I can somehow hook it up to my desk top? Thank you for your help!!

| It will come with the power cord and I would assume built in wireless card. Do you have a wireless router already? What does she need in the line of software? It will have a browser and most likely some really basic word processing applications. What all do you want her to be able to do day 1?

| Mmmmm, where to begin..... I'm assuming you have either cable or dsl for your internet. You'll definitely have a modem, that will be the box that the phone or cable line goes into from the wall. If you have another box between it and your computer, then you have a router. If you have a router, give me the brand and model number from it and I'll check to see if it's wireless or not. If you don't have a router or your router isn't wireless, then the only way she'll be able to get on the internet with her netbook would be to disconnect your desktop from the modem and plug her netbook into the modem. Does that help? Am I making sense?

| Sounds like it. I have a Linksys Wireless N router but we seem to think we have to be cutting edge here and we had some issues with reception in my 2 story house. I recommend to my friends to get a Wireless G router, that is a better value for your dollar, unless you can get a Wireless N for about the same price. I like my Linksys, but haven't really heard anything bad on any of the others. I had a Belkin before that I liked, my son inherited that one when he moved out.

| Hi! who do you use as internet service, and what type of netbook did you get. We have at&t and the fam gave me a new laptop for my b'day. It is a gateway. I went to at&t yesterday and bought a new modem for $106. It took about an hour to change it over, and now I get wireless all over the house. |

| I would get her a wireless mouse as well. That would be much easier for her to use than the pad on the laptop. She's gonna love it! |
