| How long do cats live? I have two cats. One is 3 and one is 5. These are my first two cats I have ever had. I know a dogs lifespan is around 14-15 years if well taken care of. How old are your cats? If you had one that passed, how old was it? Just wondering, so I know how long to expect to have my cuddle buddies.

Donating YT Addict | I've always had cats and I read somewhere that if it's an inside cat it can live up to 16 years, if they live outside their life span is 6-8 years. Although we had an outside cat that lived 13 years. He would still be here if this pack of dogs down the road hadn't attacked him in the middle of the night. The one i have now is inside and she's only 3. Hope this helps you out.

| I have heard that the oldest cat lived to be about 30 something. We have a cat now who is about 13. My cat, Fluffy, passed away three years ago--she was 21 years old.

| A friend's cat lived until he was 17 years. Can't recall exactly what it was that took him. It might have been cancer. He was an indoor cat that was let out but he chose to hang around either on their own yard or the neighbour's. Never much further. He was fed kibbles all of his life. An old aunt of mine had hers for at leasat 20 years and it was an indoor apartment cat all of its life living in a warmer climate, not North America. She cooked fish daily for her cat. Another one I know of passed around 16 years old and was an indoor cat who was fed wet canned food all of her life. My cat will be 9 this year. She's always been on dry kibbles and strictly indoor house cat. After her first or second year, I've shared people food with her on few occassions. Her favourite's ice cream. I've stopped feeding her people food after she got more demanding so as not to "spoil" her into expecting people food all the time. I discourage "begging". She's only half way through her lifespan now, I believe, but she's considered "senior" and has suddenly put on weight as of last summer. |

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | Most of our outdoor cats don't make it too long, something gets them or they run away!!! I refuse to have an outside cat anymore, because when they vanish, I get too upset! The one indoor cat we have now is 8, & my grandma's cat lived to 20! Hugs-Kay & Jaxon
