| I first learned they were real a couple years ago, I read a story about a couple that stayed in the hotel and the hotel had bedbugs that bitten them. Gave me the creeps!

YT 2000 Club Member | Fox 8 news from Cleveland, Ohio had a big thing on them this week and I couldn't watch it. I too thought they were not real things but they have been on the news too much lately! I freak out at the creepy crawlies. I am lice a phobic and if I hear the spoken word, i have to wash my hair with the special shampoo just to make myself stop itching. Thankfully I have never dealt with them ( knock on wood) but I volunteer at school for my 4 boy's and just happen to be the L word check day and I will never be the same 7 years later!!

| Yes, they are often found in beds and furniture, sometimes you go to a hotel and you begin to itch, WATCH it, they are bed bugs. I saw a documentary on CNN last year about this hotel in Boston that was INFESTED with bed bugs. One woman has to be hospitalized as she had zillions of bug bites. here is a great article on them, they are becoming more and more a problem and your home does not have to be dirty for them to invade it. http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/bedbugs/#invade Last edited by soccbydo; 02-06-2008 at 02:56 AM. |

| An ex's family got a small scale infestation in their Manhattan apt. It was a HUGE undertaking to get them out of one room for good. I most city folk are VERY leery of taking any cushioned item that may be out of a curb, no matter how they might like the couch. Another instance was my cousin in Brooklyn had lots of bug bites and thought her slob of a roommate had brought bedbugs into the apt and TOTALLY freaked out and went around the place with bleach only to finally figure out that a window had been left open and it was only mosquito bites. |
