| Finley Oak I recently got a 7 week old Yorkie from a reputable breeder. He has worms but is being treated and they found yeast in his ears that we're treating now, too. Just wanted to introduce our little Finley Oak. The first picture was the one the breeder had up on the ad, and the second was from today. I'll get more as he grows and does more cute things. |

| Are you kidding me? A reputable breeder? No reputable breeder would sell a 7 week old pup - not to mention worms and yeast infection. He is adorable but you must be on your toes to make sure that this baby does not become sick. Hope you have visited a vet. Good luck with this baby.

He's been to the vet twice. The lady took him the day we got him and informed us of the worms. She told us when we got him the vet said he probably has worms. We are not knew to keeping animals, or puppies. We raised 3 dogs from puppies to the ends of their long lives, another puppy that we raised until she was a year old, a cat we raised until he died of Feline Leukemia at 14 months old, a dachshund we raised from puppyhood, and many other pets/animals. Please don't doubt our ability to care for an animal. Of course he has been to a vet. We went through Feline Leukemia and battled it for 14 months. Every little cough, sneeze, wheeze, weird noise, sent us running to the vets. This was this year and last year. We are more than on our toes with this baby. He went to the vet yesterday, today, and goes back for his first shots in a bit because they don't want to overdose his shots. Thanks for your input.

As far as your breeder though, since you did bring it up yourself -- there is no such thing as a "reputable breeder" who lets tiny, vulnerable, dependent creatures leave their Momma at this young of an age. This puppy will miss out on some VERY important stuff that the mother was supposed to teach him over the ensuing 5 weeks that he will now miss out on. Not to mention, letting him go from his mother this young actually risks his very life - and to me, that's the very definition of a careless, flippant, uncaring breeder. I hope you can understand where my opinion is coming from...I mean nothing personal toward you. Just please be very, very, very careful and diligent with this wee one - feeding often and being looked over. If anything goes awry, please get to the vet ASAP as at this young of an age, they can die within hours of something going wrong. Best of luck!

| [QUOTE=FinleyOak;4596385 I knew this kind of post was coming.QUOTE] Normally I don't like to say anything negative to a new member, but after reading your above post I have to ask what made you say you knew this type of post was coming, did you make your opening remark to get a rise out of us? Most new members do not intentionally make posts that will cause negative comments so I can't help but wonder why you would. But since you did, it gives myself and others an opportunity to make the below statement. A breeder that sells a 7.5 week old yorkie with worms and an ear infection. is NOT REPUTABLE.

| maybe it's just me and the photo is pretty dark so it is hard to tell, but the pup in the breeders picture does not look the same as the new picture, the muzzle looks all dark in the new photo and not so in the breeders photo.

| I knew it was coming because I can see other threads of people getting yelled at for having a young puppy, too. I decided to try to give this forum a chance but now I really don't want to. Are you saying that that's not the same dog? The first pictures lighting is different than the lighting in the second picture. Also, the first picture is taken with a phone on a computer screen. Okay fine, not a reputable breeder. I know I can care for little Finley so I wish this forum learns how to not degrade people and jump down their throats about everything. I thought this thread was supposed to be a friendly place. Wow. Heres a thread i read before I posted, and was hoping it wasn't a thing anymore. I was wrong. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...rd-others.html I'll find a forum that doesn't degrade and bring down new members and accuse of things. Also no one said you could or would not care for your pup they only cautioned you to be prepared in case other health issues would occur.

I thought I would be safe to say my babies age, but I guess not. If I can't post anything about him until he's 12 weeks old then I might as well go to a forum that won't jump down my throat, be degrading, and be so unwelcoming that people don't want to stay here. I shouldn't have to feel worried about the responses I might get or the "input" people may have. That's just Not right. To not even say "welcome" or "congrats on the baby" and just skipping right into "wrong wrong wrong wrong" makes people want to leave and never come back. I see where you're coming from but I don't think you see where I'm coming from.

Plus, we must say something when we see something like this bc others are reading this and may think it's acceptable or normal to get a yorkie this young. Like I said earlier, it's absolutely *nothing* personal toward you, not at all. In fact, I'm looking forward to getting to know you and your little feller and I hope you stick around to get to know us, we're really a good bunch, I promise ! Btw, I *love* the name Finley Oak...how did you choose it?

| Wylie's Mom (ann) is right, many people come on here before they buy a puppy so if we were all goey goey saying oh that is great and so forth it could make others think that a breeder selling puppies at 7 weeks old with worms could be considered reputable. While most of us try our best to be polite after all it is web site about and for the welfare of yorkies, it's not facebook or instragram where people are just supposed to gush and not give opinions. I think if you would have just posted something along the lines of here is my pup Finley, I am head over heals about him and even if you included his age no one would have made a big deal out of it. But when you put reputable breeder into the mix and said you knew your post would get a rise that changed everything for me. Believe me I am not an overzealous by the book yorkie lady, in fact my current yorkie is a mix and most would say breeders who breed mixes are not reputable, but it pains me when breeders sell pups at 6 and 7 weeks because I have seen a lot go wrong, right now there is a thread where someone got a 6 week chocolate yorkie if we do not continue to say something new buyers will never know that it is not a good thing. I hope you stay on YT because even though it might not seem like it at the moment we are all well intentioned and for the most part very kind, and by the way welcome to Yorkie Talk

| Welcome to YT from Arizona. Your baby is beautiful. I got Buddybear when he was 3 1/2 months old as he was returned due to landlord nixed doggie not on lease agreement. I'm so glad that happened! We have been in puppy love ever since. I knew little to nothing about the breed until I joined YT. We have had dogs and cats in the past but for me yorkies are totally different. They are so tiny and can get thru the smallest places....lol.....they are so adorable when they are causing mischief! Ex: toilet paper roll....how many has he ruined? Too many, now we have to have the tp on a shelf and stretch to get to it.
