| Is my Yorkie a mix? Hello my name is Ashley and my puppies name is remington..remi for short! We are new to this site! I am looking for some help on if remi is a true Yorkie or if he is a mix. Some info about remi. He was born September 2nd 2013. So he is 8 months old. He is a very active puppy and live attention from everyone. Remi loves little kids and big dogs, I also have a black lab and they are the best of friends. Remi weighs no more that 6 pounds right now but he is long for a Yorkie. The family I bought him from told me he was just a toy Yorkie by the time he was 4 months old...I knew there was no way he is a toy Yorkie. I have asked many people what mix he could be and I have gotten a lot of different responses. If anyone could help me with this, that would be great! | Do you have pictures? Yorkies come in all shapes and sizes. A pup could have 5pound parents and come out weighing 10pounds. Did you research the breeder? Did you meet the mom or dad? Did you get papers?

| I have attached a couple pictures of my little guy. Yes I did research on the breeder and i have seen the mom and dad. According to all the papers Remi is 100% yorkie. This last weekend my uncle was visiting, he knows quite a bit about dogs and he thinks that Remi is not 100% yorkie, def not a toy yorkie, he says he is 90% sure he is a mix. I am curious on what my Remi is? Please let me know if youd like more pictures.. |

| Hi Ashley, I am looking at a pic. I have had 4 yorkies the one I have now is my 5th. The pic you posted sure looks 100% yorkie to me. Maybe in person he looks diff. there are a lot of yorkies that have been breed with other breeds and the puppies will look 100 % yorkie. Maybe other members will offer / suggest opinions / advise. Everyone likes to know what breed they have, that's for sure. Once they have captured your heart it really doesn't matter what breed they are, you will love them for who they are. I hope you can get some answers to put your mind at ease. Good luck.

| Well, he definately isn't a "toy Yorkie" because there is no such thing. Yorkies are Yorkies, no "Toy," "Mini," Tea Cup," "Micro," etc. Other than that, Remi is adorable and you love him no matter what, right? That is all that matters at this point. =)

| Toy Yorkie All Yorkies are classified by being in the "Toy Group". This does not mean they are going to be tiny, just that they are a small breed dog. It's just a classification. Chihuahuas, maltese, and pug are also toy breed dogs. Yorkies can be a range of different sizes, usually between 4-7 lbs. https://www.akc.org/breeds/yorkshire_terrier/index.cfm |
