| Had to shave Daisy :( I need some reassurance that my baby will look normal again soon. Its still pretty warm here in Texas, but I am hoping she will have some hair to protect against the colder months coming soon. Apparently I was not brushing Daisy enough or correctly because upon closer inspection I noticed she had several HUGE matts very near her skin and I tried the last couple of days to get them out. I tried combs, brushes, detanglers, cornstarch, etc. Daisy was trying to attack my brush and comb, which made de-matting near impossible. My kids seemed to think it was quite amusing. The good news is that her leg hair and face hair was unaffected by the matts. Much of the hair on her back was completely fine, but the hair on her thighs, her sides and towards her bum was a hot mess. After much consideration (and many YT searches), I decided she needed to be shaved. I shaved her to about 1/4 inch. As you can see in the photo, all she has left on her back is the silver coat that had started to grow in. I left her leg hair alone. She looks so very weird (and skinny!) to me now, but I suppose it was necessary. |

| oh , she is simply gorgeous.. what a sweet face. yes , hair will grow back pretty quickly. i had to do the same thing to my oscar. i tried to trim his hair and screwed it up so bad i had to shave him. it has grown out a lot already.. one thing i will suggest though which i learned from experience.. always always, completely comb through the coat before brushing.. that way you will get down to the skin and that should prevent further matting.... |

| I think Daisy looks adorable!!! I cut my guys in that style year round. They wear t-shirts almost daily and it is just easier on them and me to keep it short on their bodies.

| Yes, it grows back quickly! I cut Columbo's hair short when it's hot. It's so humid here, it just feels better to him and us. |

| Thanks guys! I'm feeling a little bit better about her big chop, but it cant't grow fast enough! I'm starting to wonder if it was matting like that because of her adult coat coming in? I've read the transition can wreak havoc. It seemed to start matting overnight. Either way, I'm sure she'll be back to her old self in no time...in the meantime I will be brushing her like crazy ) |

| Believe me, it grows back....and pretty quickly! I shave mine just because I think THEY appreciate it in the hot Texas summers, and with me working full time outside of the home, I just do not have the time to sit and brush through all my dogs every night! Maybe when I retire, I will have time to just SIT and BRUSH/COMB!!!! I just shaved mine all down again last week, and they will be grown out enough to tolerate our "plummeting winter temps of 40*"!!!! and by the time it starts to warm up again next year, it will be time to shave them again! |

| I forgot to say, I too, think she is adorable!! Be sure you tell HER that...some of mine will really get their feelings hurt after they are shaved...I have to make a huge deal over how pretty I think they look and how much cooler they will be, on and on and on, and thn it is all OK!!! |

| She is adorable, and at least you were able to keep the face and head looking cute. I keep my 4 in the "modified Schnauzer" cut (shaved on body, long on legs), or "the Joey cut" as we have come to call in on YT, all the time, which is fine for our weather, and soooo easy to keep up.

| If you don't like the boldness, you can cover it up with light clothing like you seem to be doing. But she looks adorable to me You certainly need to change brushes. The one you were using may be the problem. Also make sure to cover all spots (when her coat crows back). I place my dog belly up to brush his armpits, tights and belly

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | What a angel! So cute! I had KS cut down pretty short this summer for the beach, but it is growing back. It takes a bit, but it does grow back.
