| Anyone near me cut tails? I was wanting to know if anyone lives near me and cuts tails? I called my vet and he is wanting almost $200.00 to do the pups. Either they are trying to screw me or prices went up ALOT since we bred boxers, anyway there was a woman who used to do them in the town where i live but i found out she moved out of state, anything would be helpful, thanks guys, also how much did you guys have to pay for tails and dew claws?

| Yeah he actually wanted that much!! I about fell over. Several years ago with our boxer, she had 8 pups, and it was 40 some dollars for everything. But I wanted to say nevermind to people on here whanting to give me some advice, I went through past posts of the ones who dock their own tails and me and hubby did it, it was nothing like i thought it would be (pain wise) they barely cried and there was very very little bleeding (with the dew claws) there was none whatsoever with the tails. I love you guys more and more everyday!! Also wanted to add that it made me feel so much better than dragging the poor little things out in the cold.

| RSCAGGS- how old are the pups??? I have a two week old yorkie, and due to a lot of things going on with me (like a newborn baby) I wasnt able to take the puppy in to get the tail docked before he turned 5 days, so the vet told me I would have to wait to get the tail docked until the pup is 12 wks and that I was looking at about $200 for the tail because they would have to put him under anasthesia and $55 to get declawed. I thought it was a lot, and I dont really want to put the puppy through that kind of pain, so I thinking of keeping the tail, but definetly getting him declawed.. |

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | Its a more serious proceedure when they are older. I personaly, would keep the tail and the dew claws. I have dogs with dew claws and they are not an issue at all! Both my Chi's have their dew claws and there is nothing wrong with having them. I would highly suggest at this point to let the pup have both his/her tail and dew claws. Quote:
