| Livi Has Floppy Ears Now...Will This Change?? Livi started going through somewhat of an awkward stage a couple of weeks ago, but her ears were still standing at that point. The past couple of days, her ears have been "flopping". This is especially true for her left one (completely folding)....but ever her right one isn't erect like it was. I tried taping her left ear and it did nothing....in fact, I thought it looked worse. Please tell me what to do and if this is now how they are going to stay. She is 19 weeks today so I was hoping that this is something that will get better as she gets a little older. HELP! Tammy |

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | Do you have a picture? My Molly Mae went through this too. The left ear especially would be completely down. Then up. But she was also teething and adult teeth coming in. I kept them shaved and now they are completely straight up. I taped the one as well and it would stay up a few days but then flop right down. Have you shaved her ears to keep the hair weight off of them? Good luck!!! |

| yes, you can go to walmart and buy the men's mustache and side trimmer. you need to shave them about one third down on both the front and the backs. Then in a day or so, if they don't go back up, you need to tape them. I use masking tape for this and cut little squares. one for the front and back of each ear then a peice across the middle that is folded so as not to catch the hair on the top of the head and then a narrow strip around the ends of that to the ear. They should be taped to pull straight up but not over the top or out to the side. When you are done, they will look like a littlee nurses cap. |

| Tammy I'm having the same problems with my little Lucy's ears. I attached two photos one was taken on July 12 at 14 weeks old when both of her ears were standing, the second photo was taken on July 25 when she was 16 weeks old, and her right ear is floppy. I'm taking her to get groomed on Saturday and I'm going to ask the groomer to shave her ears so it might help them stand-up. But i heard that when puppies are teething that their ears sometimes will go floppy.

signs (like the actual loss of teeth?). Is this why her ear is flopping....is 18-19 weeks the typical time for teething? Lucy's ears look just like Livi's (just opposite sides.) Tammy Last edited by TammyJM; 07-31-2007 at 11:31 AM.

| yes this is the age that they are teething and she might just be getting ready to lose her teeth, I just noticed that she has been chewing and biting a lot more.

Yeah, I would try shaving first, she has alot of hair on them. I use a Wahl Peanut for the ears and for their paws. Its real small and works real good. You will also have to use scissors to trim the hair on the ears back into the V shape. Just be very careful when you do so you don't snip their ear. I bought a grooming table and use that for my "not so cooperative ones"

| Is she teething? Or, maybe she needs the hair on her ears trimmed. Jake's ears have never flopped, so I don't know other than what everyone else has said. Does she seem to be feeling okay? Floppy ears or not, she's still gorgeous!
