| My Scottie had beautiful snow-white hair on his head. You can see in his picture from a year ago, showing the change from the back to white to tan. I deliberately didn't cut the hair on his head since he was a puppy to see how the colours would change as he grew. It was a beautiful transition His head is now completely tan - same colour as his muzzle. And he's got a really really long pony tail

| Roxie is 14 weeks old and on top of her head, her black hair is slowly changing to silver underneath. My last Yorkie, Cassie was tan. |

| Chewie has a silver head, and her cheeks, kung fu stache, and beard are almost all gold, with a few black strands and a white- not silver- triangle on her little chin. Her Back and sides are turning into a rich dark blue/black color, and her feet and legs are golden, except for a few pieces of white here and there. |

| My girl has some touch of whites since she was a baby, right now she's got a lot of cream tones and still some white patches on her neck/chest area and toes.

| My Bug's coat is turning silver/grey. Sort of. Literally the lower portion of her back is silver and the front part of her back is black. The weird thing is she's three and a half! Is this normal? I know it's normal for hair to change, but this late in life? |

| 10thmuse, (a bit of a late reply) we've had a yorkie that took longer for their coats to mature completely, like 2-3 years. It varies with each yorkie but on average it's around a year, give or take, but some may take about 3-4 years (at longest that I've known). Even my current girl I've noticed more silver creeping into her black saddle coat from the legs and she's two years old. It may continue or may not, but it was noticeable for me to see.

| Omg! 3 1/2 that's crazy! I wonder if my Beowulf's hair will change. He's already 13 months but he's all black.

| HI mynameisshadow how old is your yorkie? There is a wonderful fun time when they 'break gold' and their beautiful colors begin to really shine. I think for Lilah it was around six months? Yorkies are typically blue and tan with the tan/gold looking markings on their head, chest and legs and a beautiful 'steel blue' coat on their body that can even look kind of silver or grey. I know also that hormonal changes and old age can influence the coat color.
