| Ill never get it right!!! I took Darla and Sadie (my boykin spaniel) to get groomed today and I watched her clip their nails..snip..clip...snip, snip, snip..clip...easy right?? Well just a few minutes ago I went to clip Reece's nails and first nail I did...major bleeding...next...bleeding...now Im crying...poor baby boy. I am not snipping off much...but when I clip Reece's nails he ALWAYS bleeds..Im going to have to have her do his nails only...cause I JUST CANT GET IT RIGHT!! Dawn |

| Awe, please don't be so hard on yourself. You're not the only one, it's so easy to do. Our babies are so forgiving to you know. |

| I know he forgives me...but seeing all that blood is so sad to me...I think Ill just leave it to the groomer...when he was tiny I used to use human nail clippers..maybe Ill go back to that? Does anyone have a better idea than dog nail clippers..I swear Im not trimming too far back...I just do not get it lol.. Dawn |

| You need to start a teeny bit at a time........it does take practice. My poodle and yorkie both have black nails........so tricky to do......unlike the cat's who's nails are clear and you can see the bloodline...... Don't beat yourself up........practice makes it better. IF that doesn't work........maybe try filing them down?

| Try doing it near the window during the day will help. You will see a lighter black part of the nails which is the quick and the really dark black part which are the nails. Cut the dark black part and don't go too near to the quick. It will be fine after a few practices. Take your time. A calm mommy will help the process alot!

| I've never been able to cut either of mines nails. Kizzy was just too wild when you started that, and maggies are so little i'm scared to try hers. they would let me do anything to them except Kizzy wasnt gonna have no part of that done to her. I told Lynn when she was here so she wouldnt get all scratched up if she tried it. I always took mine to the vet and had theirs done. so you're braver than me. I wont even try it on maggie now.

| If you cut their nails right after a bath while they are still soft it helps. Also the scissor type nail cutters are quieter and don't make everyone jump. A little septic powder will help for the occasional accident. I sit with mine in my lap, it helps us both to relax. Nails will probably always be my least favorite thing to do for my babies which is kinda odd since I'm a nail tech.
