| Pitiful and NO Help! Let me start at the beginning. Last year as I drove past this house on my bus route (I'm a school bus driver), there was this German Shepard and Boxer in a fence connected to the house. It was about 5 foot by 5 foot. There was no grass, just dirt and mud. They had a large pet taxi in two pieces upside down for them to get into. They had to crawl in them, because they just were not big enough. Anyway, I called the Humane Society and the next thing I knew I didn't see the Boxer anymore, but they moved the fence to a pole barn and connected it there. During the summer I drove past and this area was all grown up in weeds, so I figured they got rid of the German Shepard too. Hopefully to a better, more loving home. This year the Shepard is still there but being tied up to a stake in the front yard right on the highway. It has a path wore down in the grass from only being able to go in circles. There were two metal pans out there but they were knocked over. The week before last it was raining of a morning and then the temperature took a drop and it was very cold. The Shepard was out there with no shelter. SO....again I call the Humane Society. Nothing really changed. Today it was raining and in the 40's. I go by again, same thing, tied to the stake, pans knocked over, no shelter and the Shepard is cowering because he/she is wet and cold. SO....again I make the call. They told me that he did go out and talk with the owner. He works from home. Saw that the Shepard had food and water inside the house. Fine....I said, but what about being out there all day with no food, water or shelter from the elements. She told me the dog was being taken care of.....??????? I am so angry!!!!!! That Shepard is beautiful, beautifully marked, just gorgeous. What do I do now? The Humane Society says he/she is being taken care of....I DON'T THINK SO!!! Should I call the Sheriff? They will just end up calling the Humane Society. What I really want to do is go steal it. I am miserable over this......

| Wow! That is soooo horrible! That just makes me sick!! I really do not know what else you can do.......hopefully, someone else will put in their thoughts. In the meantime, we will keep this poor baby in our thoughts and prayers. (I have a German Sheppard too and they are wonderful pets, loyal and smart - I could never see mistreating her in anyway - EVER!) Some people make me so angry!!!

| I agree too! Steal him! If you have to, get someone to go with you as a "lookout" LOL and maybe go late at night or something, if he is out there. That just makes me SICK. It is SO COLD here right now...29 degrees Brrrrr and my 3 dogs are in the HOUSE with us! They go out to do their business and come right back in. LOL YES they are spoiled BUT at least they are NOT out in the cold with no food/water/shelter! Anyway, SORRY that just agravates me!

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Take pictures and email them to the ASPCA even better - when there is No water and the dishes are turned over - that means neglect and sometimes they will step in...They MUST have water food and Shelter - and it sounds like they really don't have shelter if those carriers are too small for them - what a sad life some dogs lead but what's even sadder is the lazy excuse of a human humans who is susposed to love and take care of them |

| Thanks everyone...I think I'm going to take V's advice first...I'm going to take the pictures first. It's suppose to rain here again tomorrow so I will take pictures then. We don't have school tomorrow which is even better. My son can drive while I take the pictures, it's just a couple of miles from me. I don't care if the man sees me or not, if he's out there I'll just tell him to "smile." I don't think we have an ASPCA here in Indiana. Does anyone else know if we do? I'll do some checking myself also. At least they will be digital and I'll have as many copies as I need. If that doesn't work....I'll have a friend help me get this dog a better home. Since I'm the one who called the Humane Society, I know they will check here first.

Why do people keep them if they don't want them inside with them. A chained up or caged up dog has no life at all. They can't enjoy your companionship and you can't enjoy theirs, so why have them??????????????? | |

| Thanks, I think I will see if our local paper is interested. Maybe they'll want to use it as a reminder of the cold weather coming and to not "forget" their pets.

| call your local tv station. ask if they can do a story on the topic and use these people to get the message across to everyone. I can't believe the humane society couldn't do something about it. I would turn them in to the closest ASPCA for not trying to do something about it. I may be an odd ball for this statement but ... I dont' think any dog belongs out side. (to live).
