| Adopting older pup? I am thinking about getting a 10mo old pup. The problem is that he is not housebroke. He has been living in a kennel. Are older pups hard to housetrain? I know Kitty was a bear trying to housetrain her and I got her at 9wks. I need to make a decision on this but am having a hard time deciding. Thanks for any advise you can give me.

| When we rescued Gage, he was 6 months old and not housebroken. It took me about a week to train him (maybe a little longer but I was suprised how quickly he caught on!) on pee pads and he's not "missed" since them (he'll be 2 in just over a week). I think that with a lot of patience and love, you can housetrain an older furbaby. If you have a chance, I say go for it! Keep us posted on what you decide.....and best of luck to you

| I would think it would be the same house training him as a new puppy. You just have to start from scratch

| Jade was 1 year 1/2 when I rescued her . It took her about 3 weeks to know what a wee pad was . Actually , I have a new rescued 3 years old girl and as soon as she'll feel better , I'll start her on the pad . All it takes is patience , patience and patience . |

| Well, it doesn't look like I'm going to be able to get another yorkie right now. My husband is in the military and is getting ready to leave again. The money will be tight while he's away so I am going to have to put off my search for a new yorkie member. Thanks all for the aswers to my questions.
