Peeka Boo I See You! Donating Member | Help!! Ok guys i'm having problems with Peeka ok first off i don't have a fenced in front yard and i have taught Peeka not to go off the grass well he has done great for ever until now one day it was really cold and wet and he wouldn't walk on the grass so he pee'd in my drive way well now he thinks he can go off to the side walk so he doesn't have to walk on the grass and he is now occasionally running down the side walk. I have tried a harness and a leash but he will not go to the bathroom on a leash period so i bought a tie out and he won't go off the porch i don't know what to do I'm scared he will run away from me one of these days. Also i have had him potty trained for a while now but he is starting to poop in the house and i can't catch him doing it HELP what do i do i feel bad that i keep him penned up in a playpen but he is being such a stinker !!!!

| Bathroom Habits My Guinness will not walk in wet grass or walk on the lease if it is raining. So he comes back in my house and pees and poos in my bathroom on my rug. I have no idea what to tell you because my little devil is impossible sometimes. |

| Do you have an X-pen that you could put in your yard? This has been my experiance when I training service dogs. First. Depending on the age, they seem to recycle, kinda of like people. You, know a skin baby that was potty trained and then suddenly they start having accidents. 2nd is he in the "teenage" part of his growth, they can be very challenging during this time, down right diobediant(sp). 3rd as they grow things change. They can, and let me emphize CAN not ALL go through a stage of sensitivity. They can become sensitive to the surface that yesterday they were fine with. Same thing with smells, sounds, ect. It is usually a phase. Also Keep in mind that usually around 5 -7 months they can go through a fear stage. What you might try if you don't have an x-pen to put in your yard, is maybe going back to having puppy pads down in the house. Also use praise. When he goes outside where he is suppose to go, make it be the biggest deal ever. Your neighbors will probably think you are nuts. But it will also keep the neighbors entertained. LOL Same thing if he goes on the pee pad. You can also use treats. I was taught to ignore the accidents. They reason was that you can really mess them up when it came to relieving, and as we have seen here on YT Yorkies can be a challenge when it comes to this. I have also heard that doxies are just as bad if not worse. I hope this helps. BTW I have been putting the link to the tread that you did for new people, on each new persons thread that I welcome to YT. That was a great thread that you started.

| Amber, I would say to start the potty training over again. I know this is annoying but you have to teach him to go on, even while on a leash. I would rather peeka be unhappy for 4 minutes that he's on a leash, then for him to run off or worse. Just keep some treats with you, put on a long long long leash, and stay out there as long as necessary. Or you can go another route, and teach him to go on a puppy pad when it's wet and gross outside. Coco goes on a pad while she's at home by herself, but once I get home she goes outside. But on rainy days she doesn't go outside at all, so she just goes on the pad. Plus just remember Peeka is only 5 months, he is still young enough to train him any which way you want before he becomes tooooo set in his ways.

| ah, having a yorkie sometimes can be quite challenging. My Tiger is so used to relieving himself whenever we go on walks but now that Annika has joined us, he just doesn't . . go figure! I think the expen outdoor is a great idea . . . I personally don't want my doggies to pee on grass as they will ruin it. Sidewalks for me are much better! Good luck |

| we use the praise thing alot! Tootie has the tee tee down but thinks he has to come in to do his business. Hope really likes the praise and clapping stuff and that seems to work wonders for her.... mine wont use pads either, they eat them.. LOL... Hope used them at first but then Tootie taught her a new trick.. bad big brother!

| i have an issue sort of like this but its more like fergie goes outside only when she really really has to go...such as first thing in the am....and then most of the time i take her out on a leash and she just sniffs around and the second we get in the house, she runs to another room and goes...most of the time i can get her to pee outside but when it comes to pooping i can stay out there for hours and she wont go untill we get in the house... |
