| another furkid? ok everyone- I'm thinking about getting my second pup. My poor Maggie is so bored without a play buddy. I'm a little nervous to get a second furkid though.. I love taking maggie for rides with me.. or on walks, or in her bag. I'm scared that if i have two I won't be able to devote my time to my first. I know most of you have two so could you please offer some advice to how you handled this change. Also, I'm not looking to get another purebred puppy. I'm a college student and paid A LOT for Maggie. She was worth every penny and I don't regret it a bit. However, I know I can get the love from a puppy no matter whether it is registered or not. I've found a couple here and there: a yorkie-poo, a yorkie-chi, and a yorkie-maltese. They're all only about $150-200 which is outrageously cheap compared to Maggie. Does anyone have any advice about any of these mixes? I don't want to get anything much bigger than Maggie (5pounds) because I live in an apartment and I would hate to do that to a dog. Plus, I don't want to bring in another dog bigger than maggie and there be a struggle for dominance. I'm just looking for suggestions or information about any of these mixes. Thanks everyone!

| I can't help you on the mixed breeds but I do know there are others who post here who either have one or know someone who does so they may be able to provide some information on that. As for getting another one, I say go for it as long as you can make the commitment to 2 furbabies instead of 1. Both will need love, attention, discipline, and nurturing and you can do it! I can understand your concerns about being able to love and care as much for the other as you do for the first but....God ALWAYS provides enough love in our hearts to go around I felt the same way after my firstborn son - didn't want another because I didn't feel I could love another child the way I loved him. Boy was I wrong. I have 2 sons and love them both equally and unconditionally. And I have 2 yorkies who I treat the same, love the same, and who both of them love me. One is a joy to have in the house, 2 provides you double the fun, double the laughs, and yes, double the love!!! Best of luck to you Suzi

| I would deffinatley get a second, maggie will love a play mate, and it means you can leave her at home without worrying she's lonley. Also its double the pleasure and love i like the yorkie chi's and the yorkie maltese, although i cant unfortunatley give you any advice on these breeds. Good luck |

| Thank you both! I know I have enough love to go around.. I just worry that Maggie isn't going to see it that way! She is overly spoiled (as are ALL of our dogs on here!) and I don't want her to feel less of that. Hopefully, more people will post and give me some ideas of these mixes. anyone?

| We have a Morkie (Maltese & Yorkie) Piper. I'm glad we got her. She is so much company for Misha, but alot more costly for us. We go through twice the pee pads, and double the vet bills, but I'm still glad we got her. So just because you don't pay as much for a new one, doesn't mean it won't cost you down the road. |

| I say don't do it. If you're a college student money and time are precious. You won't have extra of either to put toward another animal. Dogs don't need other dogs to play with, she'll be just fine with only you. Plus, if you want to go somewhere and would like to take her it'd be easy enough...not true with two. Also if you can't take her it's much easier to find a friend or family member to watch one animal but not two. Two pets are four times harder than one. |

| I have a Yorkie Maltese Mix. He is wonderful. He is bigger than 5 lbs though. He was a breeze to potty train and is just the most wonderfulest little dog ever He looks mostly yorkie, just has curly hair on top of his head. His parents were 5 and 6 lbs, but he is 8 lbs, so I don't think you can ever know exactly how big they are going to be. I only have the one, can't help you on the having two question I have thought about getting another myself, just not sure I want to mess with a good thing Here is a pic of Cooper as a baby and more recently.

It is hard to equally devote your time to 2 or more dogs but it can be done I only travel with Chloe when I go places but thats becasue Tink doesnt like venturing out of the house much so that works out. And of course Penny is a little big to tote around with me lol. BUt they all love to play together and I highly recommend having mulitiple dogs I think Yorkie/maltese mixes are adorable!

| Being pack animals does not mean they need other dogs. Your family is also their 'pack' remember. A dog does NOT need another dog to play with. |

| Well I'm sorry but they do, they need stimulation and socialization with other dogs. Thats how they learn and develop. They can't spend their whole lives only socializing with humans. Ok we are like pack leaders to our babies, but we dont act like dogs |

| We had a yorkie poo for 12 years. She weighed fabout 8 pounds and she was the smartest sweetest dog we have ever had.. I love having two dogs, they keep each other entertained and exercised, but when there is an empty lap, they are always willing to fill it. You'll get right into the swing of taking both of them, just like you would if you had a second child. And in no time you will wonder how you ever did with just one. |

| Stump is a Yorkie Maltese Mix, and he was a lot cheaper than the purebreds. But I think that was because he was an accident, the lady breeds Maltese and normally charges around $1000, and he was only $400. He look like a Yorkie, but has the face of a Maltese, and has a white belly and a white head. As for his personality, he is 100% Yorkie. He is a fiesty Terrier haha, and potty training hasn't been too easy with him. His parents were 6 and 7 pounds and he is 7 pounds. I want to get Stump a sister too! I'm thinking a female Maltese for my next one. |
