| One of the reasons I got Kiki because I have a couple of friends that had them and they don't have a bad scent. I give Kiki a bath once every 2 weeks and he never smells like a dog unless he is outside a lot, than I would have to give him a bath before the regular 2 week time.

| She is the only one that always have something to say. She really hates it when her 27lb shih tzu doesn't get the attention because Buttercup is the center of attention when we have get-togethers. I agree, she may be jealous or maybe she just doesn't like the breed. |

| First let me tell you that Buttercup is adorable! It really does sound like if she's jealous. My sister has a s**tzu and I think he's cute ,however I personally think that Yorkies are just cuter and my second pick is the Maltese breed. For me ,I don't like the s**tzu's bulging big eyes and the underbite that many seem to have. Nobody get mad please! My yorkie or maltese never stink. They get a bath once a week and I use baby powder scented oildrops that last for over a week! They also do not spend time outside because we have all kinds of strange and wild animals around here + this is tick town! Genie,Cookie & Lola |

| must be jealousy Hi. I agree with the jealousy theory. My yorkie doesn't stink. As a matter fact, when I got my first yorkie, Bentley, I made the comment to my husband that I found it weird that after 2 weeks without a bath...he still didn't smell. My new yorkie, Spencer, doesn't smell either. I think she's just jealous and wishes she had one of her own.

| We just had this discussion tonight. I told my husband that I really like yorkies because they don't smell. I have had a cocker spaniel and a beagle and their ears starte to stink.

| This is an interesting thread - simply because this subject comes up so often. I am inclined to believe that Yorkies - but perhaps only some Yorkies -may have an odor that most other dogs don't have. (This subject just comes up too often for there not to be some truth to it.) I do know that when my pup was only a few months old - I noticed an odor for a while then - but it seems to have gone away. My Bichon - never has any odor at all. He can go 6 weeks without a bath and play outside all day every day -- and smelling him is like smelling fresh air. Bichons are known to have no body odor. Then my Yorkie. He certainly does not smell - but he definitely smells a little more like a dog than my Bichon ever has. Whatever - all we can do is give out little guys bathes when they need them. Carol Jean |

| I don't think she meant that they stink and needs a bath. She literally said that yorkies stink, no matter what. Well yeah they might have the dog odor but it doesn't stick to them like magnets. I've never met someone so ignorant. |

| My cousin had a Yorkie that had a skin condition and it caused the poor thing to have an unpleasant odor. At the time (about 10 years ago) she was told it was a condition common in Yorkies. I wish I could remeber what it was. Unfortunately nothing would fix it Punkin seems to get greasy and really needs a bath by the time day 7 hits - but I don't think she gets really smelly. Some people just have no manners - I wouldn't let it bother you.

| My yorkie has a sort of wet dog smell. I bathe her one a week but it seems as if 2 days later the smell returns. I was thinking maybe the shampoo isnt strong enough? I don't know what to do anymore. |

| Give her a copy of this... LOL To pacify you, my dear pets, I have posted the following message on our front door: Rules for Non-Pet Owners Who Visit and like to Complain About Our Pets 1. They live here. You don't. 2. If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture (that's why they call it "fur"niture.) 3. To you, it's an animal. To me, he/she is an adopted son/daughter who is short, hairy, walks on all fours and doesn't speak clearly. Dogs are better than kids... they eat less, don't ask for money all the time, are easier to train, usually come when called, never drive your car, don't hang out with drug-using friends (unless the cat that also lives here has a cat-nip addiction, but that won't kill him/her). They don't smoke or drink, don't worry about having to buy the latest fashions, don't wear your clothes, and don't need a gazillion dollars for university - and if they get pregnant, you can sell the children. This has been posted on YT a few times now and I love it...

| Chewy doesn't seem to have a bad smell... one of the reasons I wanted a small dog was that their bath wasn't such a big deal... (I had a lab before) I know some people are not dog people. I love dogs but I had a friend with a Jack Russell and it would jump all over me when I got there... get on the back of the couch and lick my hair and ears... jump on the table during dinner!!! i just had trouble liking this dog. But it had no training... was very badly behaved. Now that I have my own tiny dog I understand how people feel about their BABIES! They are the sweetest... I think this girl just doesn't like your dog and is trying to be hurtful... She is rude and she needs to be set straight! As much as I was annoyed with My friends dog behavior I would never have come into her home and complained about it!

| I think with almost any dog, if you keep them bathed, then they should not stink. But I have also seen soooooooooooo many doggie colognes out there, it's not even funny But if it works then so be it. |

Lovin' 2 Girls Donating Member | I never smell an odor on Abbie; but, my 12 y/o Mozart (shih-tzu/maltese/silky mix) does have a pungent odor when his allergies are acting up. I, too, think the smell in bil's girlfriend's nose could be her upper lip

| This is really an "old" post/thread..... but I've had my Yorkie quite a bit longer now -- AND - he definitely can smell like a dog - My Bichon and my Poodle/Pom mix almost never have any odor at all --- but little Murphy (my Yorkie) definitely does. Sorry - guys - I know we like to think our little Yorkie are perfect, but they're not and we love them anyway. After all --most dogs smell a little like a dog -at least once in a while. Fun fun!!
