Donating YT 30K Club Member | Cali got much better after 6 or 7 months of age. She never nips me now and she was really bad when she was younger. It will get better.

| Of course you can turn it around especially if its biting as in teething biting. What I do with Rhapsody is I have those little chew sticks (flavored) -- anyway I have one in my pocket, and by the place I like to sit and watch TV. When she jumps up and starts trying to chew on me -- I tell her "no bite" then hand her a chew stick. Everytime she trys to go for me -- I stick the chew stick in her mouth, and I'll even sometimes play like the chew stick is teasing her. But I never, ever allow her to continue chewing on me! I'll even put her down on the floor and ignore her if she continues. Everyone in the household does the same things -- she's getting better, but I think some of it is she's starting to outgrow the teething stage. Good luck! And I've been wondering what happened to you and Snickers. I hope things are getting better now. Also our Yorkie-Poo Max was real bad about that. Honestly he didn't get trained out of it as much as he just grew out of the teething stage. It wasn't until he was over a year that he just stopped chewing on everything and everyone. . .

| No it is not too late. the dog Whisperer would say that the dog does not respect you as the leader of the pack. Once you resolve that issue, he/she will stop biting. Here is the link to his site. there are a lot of good tips there. http://www.dogchannel.com/dog/expert...aspx?WT.srch=1 |

| thanks everyone... that is really reassuring i was getting a little nervous that she was still doing it and that maybe it was getting too late and/or would get worse... this makes me feel much better i missed you guys! thanks for the quick responses part of it may be that my son is still in the hosptial (he is 6) since March and so the house was in an uproar and i didnt know if this was just her, if it was teething, or if it was her reaction to her surroundings i feel so bad i am trying to spend QT with her and i think i just need to step it up a lil so she doesnt feel lost in the shuffle because we love her so much and would like to play with her but when she kept biting i was getting a lil worried i will try that link that was posted for the dog whisperer and i will try carrying a chew toy too... she only has one she really likes right now i may just use that for redirection and i will keep y'all posted as to how its working you guys are great... and maybe she will be like cali and outgrow it too thats what i'm hoping i just wasnt sure when they did Thank you!!! |

| update on this... well she is 9months old now and doing sooo well with the biting i think she was thinking she was the "alpha" in the house and wouldnt even let me turn her over on her back to rub her belly--- the vet said that was a sign that i needed to establish myself as the alpha so to update everyone who helped me on this she is no longer biting (at least nothing worth mentioning) except when playing or feelin a lil neglected and trying to get my attention but its just a lil nipping not actual biting its so reassuring that she isnt doing that behaviour anymore i was really concerned so thanks again everyone! |
