| ![]() Adie (12 weeks old) has about a a quarter inch of white roots on the top of her head now. This is normal right? She is changing over to her adult colors right? She is starting to look like her mother right? The white is really silver? It seems to me that I heard they change colors but her father is black and brown and I thought she looked like him! I have attached a picture of her mother taken shortly after Adie and her sister were born. (Poor tired little thing!) What do you think? I swear owning a yorkie is different from owning any other type of dog!!!! No wonder everyone, including me, is so hooked on them. |

| ![]() Jake was silver and black at 12 weeks old. He was nearly 5 months before he even started showing signs of tan. He's still mostly silver at 6 months .... but there is a little bit more tan. A lot of pups start out silver and change over time. Photo of him at 5 months. |

| ![]() If her father stayed black on his head, he is the exception. Most of them change to gold or silver. Yorkies are very unique. I don't think there is another breed that changes so much. |

| ![]() It could just be platinum blond... Oscar looked like his head was turning white (actually, Ruthie is looking that way too) but it's almost completely grown out now and it's a beautiful light blonde. I love watching how much they change color. I can't wait to see how Ruthie's coat turns - I think she may be a lot like Oscar's coloring.

| ![]() This will probably be the first of changes to come. Sissy has very different coloring at 13 weeks, then at 4 months, then at 9 month and now at one year. Her back is now starting to change a lot. It had been very dark black, but not has lots of both silver and blond in it. It will be interesting to see where she ends up.

| ![]() My girl Rylie is 7 months today, her hair on the top of her head is... black tips from her baby stage, white/silver in the middle and tan on the roots. When i took her for her first grooming the groomer refused to cut her MESSY head hair because she fell in love with her tri colour head and didn't want to cut the black tips off ![]() So in other words your puppies silver ( but looks like white) hair will probably change and basically you won't know what colour she will really be till about 2 years old. (TeeHee I love this site.. this is where i learned about the hair changing ![]()

| ![]() Luvmysiss. she is so cute. that is what seems to be happening with kizzy. She got all the white/silver but in these pictures you cant tell it much but in person the white/silver behind her ears are turning to a light beigey color, and look at all the white in her back yet part of her hair looks blue. the mom and dad I saw were both blonde with some silver and a few black hairs all intertwined. So if her silver turns to blond, I would think she will be that color too. Which actually makes them look blonde but as they get older soon they still get lighter and end up pretty much blonde all over. So thats what I hope is going on with kizzy now. Its taking her hair a long time seems like to grow long tho. But she is just 6 months old. She just grew up fast but I think she has reached her size. At least I'm hope she has but I want her to gain more weight. She looks long and slim to me now. She will be prettier once her hair gets longer if she fills out more. I have heard that being spade will help them put on weight. But with this heat neither of them are gonna get too fat right now I dont think.

| ![]() when i got scampi as a pup he had one white strip on his head which later was all over his head and legs but more of a cream colour and when i bred him zac his son was born with a white strip on his head which also did the same as he got older. i like this cream colour better than the tan.

| ![]() Thanks everyone, Especially for the pictures! I guess I will just have to wait till she is 2 before I say what color she is (lol) Adie went to the groomer for the first time yesterday and was quite well behaved. She has a bit more white than I thought she has. From a distance she looks like she has really thin hair in places but it is the white looking like skin. Will post her picture as soon as I take it and get it uploaded to my pc. Thanks again! You guys rock! |
