| My Yorkie keeps hitting me Ever since I got my female yorkie, Kira, she has had a habit of holding a toy in her mouth, shaking her head and hitting the toy on my leg in an attempt to get me to throw the toy for her. It was entertaining at first - but she is now 1 1/2 years and still does this, (sometimes for 1/2 hour). Lately when I'm lying by the firesplace relaxing and reading, she starts wacking the toy in my face. I know I need to ignore her, but when I do this she will place the toy beside me and hide around the corner in a strike pose waiting for me to throw it -- this pose will last up to 10 minutes until I feel sorry for her and finally throw it. Several months ago I got a second yorkie (a male) who has no interest in this game and just watches her -- I thought this toy shaking/hitting habit was a yorkie thing? Will she outgrow it as she gets older??? |

| I'm not sure, I think it is just her way of playing.

| BUGABOO IS ALMOST 3yrs... And he still plays games like that. When I'm on YT I have to reach down and throw is ball or he'll start whining, so I throw it.

| What's cute sometimes can be annoying at others! Pauldo, your little girl is a playful little cutie! Sure, there are times when we don't feel like playing, but if you are in one of those moods, you should probably stay off her turf, meaning the floor. If you are down there, she probably thinks it's playtime. There are loads of folks out there who would be really jealous of your yorkie's ability to have fun with toys! We often see folks who comment that their pup will not play with toys and that makes them sad. When you don't want her to play, you need to say "No" firmly, and walk away. But I do hope you make some time to play with her daily. She loves you and wants you to have some fun too.

| Sounds like she is bored and looking for something entertaining to do. LOL I probably wouldn't think it was funny either if it were my dog. But I guess she could be doing worse things. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. |

| Chachi gets his ball and runs over to you and puts hei paws on your leg untill you throw the ball. I think she is playing and will continue to do it.

| Same with Luigi and Brasco! They push their toys closer and closer to me, and if I ignore them, they push harder!!! Cracks me up!!! But while I am on YT, I just throw their toys for about an hour or so, and finally they wear out, and zonk out!!!! You just a have very playful little one!!! LOL!!!!! Have fun!

| Sounds exactly like Ella!! She loves stuffed toys or the squeaky balls from the iqube. It is fine when I am watching t.v or something but if I am lying on the floor trying to read the paper it is a bit annoying and I end up giving up and playing with her. Sometimes she will get tired and lay down too. The worst thing is she has a sock with a tiny tennis ball knotted in to the end and she whacked me in the head with it!! Ouch!! |

| Well, it sounds like that's just Kira's personality - which is O.k. - most of the time it is funny (good point Jaspermom - I should stay off the floor when I'm reading. Suninthesummer - I can relate to the "ouch"). On a positive note Kira has found some games that my new male yorkie will play with her -- they run around and around the house playing tag and also wrestle on the floor with their mouths open and snarling and pretending to bite each other -- I've discovered yorkies are great entertainment. Thanks for your replies - I enjoyed reading them! |

| This doggy has personality!! I couldn't stop laughing when I read your post because my yorkie she is only 2 months gets a head start and then runs and jumps into the bed or couch till u pay attention to her and she does it over and over and it is the funniest thing I have ever seen. It's their personality they are playful and want u to know it. Maybe if you really don't want to play try just walking out of the room or take the toy and don't throw it, but I know when u see that cute little face you just have to throw it. I can't believe these dogs are so playful I have always thought litttle dogs to be serious and mean. They actually the best thing u can have around especially when u need some cheering up. |
