| Flaky skin and hair falling out... I noticed that Gracie's skin and hair had alot of white flakes. I gave her a good bath with oatmeal shampoo and she is still flaking bad. I just went to brush her and her hair was comming out in small clumps. No bald spots, just alot of shedding, much more then normal. What could this be, just dry skin??? She is not scratching more then normal, nothing seems to be diffrent about her except for the white flakes and excessive hair loss. I checked her for fleas, did not find any or any of the "flea" signs. No red marks on her body or sores. What could this be? What should I do?

| Definitely have the vet look at it....I think if it was normal cold weather causing the dry skin or just dry skin, there wouldn't be hair loss....but I don't know. Not to scare you or anything, but I had a Shih-tzu once that had mites (demodix or a form of it) and his skin was dry and sometimes scaly/flakey looking and he lost hair, not a lot or big clumps or bald spots (like what most dogs get with demodix mites, he also didn't have scabs like the symptoms said)....so that might be it....I HOPE NOT, but I would definitely get it checked out and it wouldn't hurt for them to check either....I think they just do a light skin scrape. Good luck!

| Help with matted hair???? Hi there, I'm new to this and don't know how to post a new message, just reply. So if you come across this and can help me learn this wonderful site that would be great. Also I have been using a harness for my little Pepper, it seems to really matte her hair. Also when i put her little coat on it does the same... are there any recommended leave in conditioners that may help... or any other suggestions. This tangling happens even in the five mins that i put her harness on just to go out for her piddle. Any help wpould be much appreciated, Lisa |

| You can click on the post reply on the top of the screen. This lets you reply to the post in this forum which is General Yorkie Discussions. You can click "Yorkie Talk" on the top of the screen (there will be another by it that says "Yorkie General Discussions"). Yorkie Talk is where all the threads/topics/forums are. Once you get to Yorkie Talk - it is where all the different topics are - You will see "Announcements", "Breeders", "Health & Diet", etc. You can click on start new thread to start a new topic or read through the topics and click on one of those and reply to them. You can also use the search option (Click "Search" in the blue bar at the top of the page) and you can search for related topics that have been posted already, so maybe your questions are already answered and posted somewhere before). Hope this helps.
