| House breaking problems I'm in desperate need of help with our 9 month old yorkie. I'm so frustrated that I wish I never got this dog. It's just not going good at all. I'm getting to the point that it's not envelope enjoyable having her. She learned how to hit the bell at the door very fast, she learned the word treat really fast, and when she's running out side and won't come in and if I shake the treat can she comes running. So why is it she can't learn to on go to the bathroom out side. When it rains she refuses to go out. And then she will run out and then come in and go in the kitchen in a certain spot. After months of this we gave in and put a wee wee pad down. Well she still goes on it rather than out side. But tonight she went on my couch. And when I yelled at her she knew right away that she did was wrong. The head went down and she gets close to the ground like she's laying down. Not only that but she constantly bites. And jumps on our other dogs head and bites her ears. We are constantly yelling at her. She still is in her crate during the night and if I'm not home. Every time we think she is getting it.and not going in the house for a few days ,then it just starts all over again. Oh and she eats poop, not just hers but she will go and eat my other dogs poop. I feel like I made the biggest mistake. I really want to enjoy her and I don't want to keep yelling at her because I want her to enjoy being here and have a good home, but I'm afraid I'm running out of patience and am going to end up rehoming her. Which isn't good either. What do I do??? |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hi and welcome . Puppies and potty training can be really overwhelming...so, just know you're not alone on this one, first and foremost. If you want to private message me your email addy, I can send you a potty training guide via email (it's in pdf form, so I can't post it here). It may contain no new info for you, but maybe it could help...I don't know...? What does your gut really say about this kiddo -- do you think you genuinely want to keep trying...? Or, do you really think you're ready to give up? I'd figure that part out more than anything. Re-homing is tough, no doubt about it. But, if that's going to happen - it's better to have it happen when they're still young...rather than later when they've fallen totally in love with you. Re-homing is wayyyy easier on a puppy, than on an adult. Don't be afraid to re-home if that's what your gut/heart is telling you.

| How often are you taking her out? You need to keep her confined to a smaller space and not let her run the house if she is going potty everywhere. Taking her out every hour is probably what you need to do. Also pick up the poo as soon as it happens.

| Maybe only give the treats when she goes so she associates the treats with that behavior.
