| New Yorkie Talk Member & Yorkie Lover/Owner Hello, I am Kimberly and I am so glad I found this site, I had a 11 yr old male 7 lb and now I have a tiny 9 week old female. My male was given too much anesthesia during teeth cleaning in March and I had to put him down last week and I am so heart broken I could just die. He went blind, couldn't breathe, his belly went hard and round as a small basketball, it was horrible. I know some people will not understand me putting one dog down on Tuesday and then getting another on Friday, but I am not trying to replace my male, I couldn't bare the quietness in my home. Anyway, trying to find answers, peace, and friends of Yorkie lovers. So happy to be here !!!!! |

Just so you know your first few posts will take a bit of time to show up as a moderator approves them - this is to help protect against scammers etc. I am so sorry you lost your boy to a regular procedure. Was pre op blood work done? If not maybe there was some sort of underlying condition. Serious Adverse events from operations of this nature are pretty rare but obviously they do occur. The timing of when we are ready for another pup is so very individual. I am glad you have another pup to love and when you feel ready post a picture please! BTW it has to be sized small

| welcome another Canadian, Im so sorry about your little boy, how sad...I would change vets, do a google search on (rate my Dr.) and put in the name of the vet. You will see how your vet is rated as well as different vets that have good ratings. It really sounds like you are a yorkie lover, I would have done the same thing, get another dog.

| I totally understand. My friends forced me to get another pup. I'm glad they did and I love my Sadie dearly, but I'm still having a terrible time missing my other two. |

| My little boy gone Yes, blood work was done and the only thing that was high was protein and they said that could be from his diet. Everything else was normal levels. Florida Aid to Animals basically gave him too much anesthesia and killed my baby. I wish I could prove it or something, but they wouldn't own up to their mistake. I just got his ashes back yesterday. I have a mosoleum in my entertainment center. Two little poodles and now my precious yorkie. I hope this pain gets easier. Thank you all for comfort. |

Don't feel like you need to defend getting a puppy. We all know what you mean when you say you can't replace your lost baby. Only you know when/if your heart is ready to love another kiddo. Embrace your new kiddo, hug her tight, and just be happy with her -- that's what your 11 yr old baby would want for you, right ...? He'd want you to be happy, and to share your home w/ another little pup. Congrats!
