| puppy panting Hello, I just picked up a new yorkie puppy 2 days ago. She is 10 and a half weeks old. I am noticing that she is panting a lot. I don't remember this with my other two puppies. She is eating and drinking and playing too but when I am holding her or she is on my lap she pants. She has a very thick coat but we don't keep the house too hot. Any thoughts on why she is panting so much? Thank you!! Anne |

| You only have her 2 days, could be she is still nervous being in new surrounding, new smells, and you, a stranger to her. It takes more then 2 days for pups to build a bond and trust with their new momma. Have you taken her to your vet for a check up, this should be done 24 to 48 hours after bring her home.

| I did take her to my vet on my way home the day I got her. I wanted to be sure she was okay before I brought her into my house. My breeder took her to the vet last week also. This is the second pup I have bought from her. It may just be nerves. I visited her a few times and spent time with her before I bought her. Her world was a 4 by 4 pen before I brought her home so everything is new to her. She also has a pen here to be in when I am not home or at night but she is out in the kitchen when I am home so she is getting her sea legs and exploring everything. the kitchen is pretty big and the safest room in the house with no wires or anything she can get into that is harmful. I guess I will keep an eye on her and if she continues I will call the vet tomorrow! Thank you for responding. |

| That's GREAT that you took her straight to the vet before even bringing her home. If she was confined to a small area it will take her time to adjust to having more space to explore. If she not running like a wild child, and house is not hot, she is drinking and eating, I would think it is nerves and new environment, new life style, but always better safe the sorry, vet check is always best with wee new babies. Please keep us up-dated.
