| Yorkie gate Hi yorkie lovers, I have a yorkie, Joey who will be 1 years old soon. I am looking for help on finding a gate that fits our large stairways opening that a yorkie can't squeeze through. This is our biggest challenge as he like to sneak upstairs and poop. Do any of you have great suggestions for that type of situation..... I have searched and searched... I need it to be 54" wide and pressure mounted and one that he won't squeeze through.... Need to get this potty training nipped in the bud ASAP!!! Thanks for your help. |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | You might want to check Front Gate, just got my mag this week and already thrown it away, but noticed they had quite a selection of gates and one caught my eye - thinking oh they can't get thru that one. Sorry don't have the mag anymore.

| IMO invest in a good gate..Potty training or not theres always times to keep them out.Or pinned. Mine will always be here..I use them to keep them out of the kitchen so they don't get hurt when cooking. And if nobody is home they only have access to the kitchen and family room next to it. Plenty of area potty pads play and there safety. baby proof |

| Am I reading this wrong or is 54" not an option with one touch pet gate Like the regular One-Touch, the 150's tension-mount design allows you to attach it to a doorway/hallway opening to keep your pet confined to their own "special" area. The gate door allows you to move freely from room to room. The "one-touch" handle design provides the option of opening/closing the gate with one hand. Fits openings 35-37" then 47-49" then 59-61" only. Made from Rubber wood and metal. Designed by Richell Corportation, Japan

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | 22"H Free-standing Steel Mesh Pet Gate Barrier - Frontgate Found the link to the one I saw - didn't think price was all that bad for the way the gate looked, two sizes and Extra-wide gate expands from 40" - 70" in 2" increments

| Or use the 49 and add http://www.richellusa.com/catalog/pe...gate.html..but may not work. You would need to see it in a store to see if you can mod. It . M wife does it. They just slide onto threaded bar. Basically endless if you have material |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | We use shelves from Home Depot and stand them up on their lip - you can get them in lots of sizes, you can cut them to custom sizes, can paint them, also come in different heights. I like these bc you can just leave them there (only 12" high) and can just step over them, rather than having to open a door or anything. I also used these on our iron outdoor fencing - bc the fence gaps were too large and our kiddos could fit through...so, along the bottom we painted then attached these shelving pieces to tighten the gaps - and they are almost invisible they blend so well!

| Gates have been a problem for us as well. We had been using one that had a door that we could open to walk through but that was the one Max caught his foot under and broke 2 bones so we won't use that anymore. We are currently using the old fashioned baby gate and I hate it because I have to keep stepping over it. The shelf looks interesting but I would worry because it looks to be free standing and Max is always scratching at the gate when we are on the other side. Toni found this and I am going to build a couple of them. I can build them any width or height I choose and they are inexpensive. And with a small magnet or piece of velcro in the right place they can stay in the open position when needed.

| Make sure the gate is also high enough that they cannot jump over. I have a 30 inch high gate and Boomer can jump over it. He just hasn't learned how to climb over it yet. (Hoping he never finds out) I also had issues finding a gate to fit a 72 inch wide area. |
