YT 1000 Club Member | There is no right answer to that question. He is a puppy and all puppies are different. I free feed my puppies because puppies burn so many calories when they play and need extra to grow. I have 2 puppies that are 4 1/2 months old and they are going to be big Yorkies so they weighed 3 1/2 and 4 lbs at 3 months old and are currently at 6 and 6 1/2 lbs. I am expecting them to weigh between 8-10 lbs when they are full grown. What your puppy should weigh depends on what your puppy is expected to weigh as an adult and they are all different. I have a friend who has a 3 month old puppy that weighs about 2 1/2 lbs. I would not limit the food you give the puppy as puppies eat more than adult dogs. As long as you don't have a fat puppy, and I mean really fat, then let them eat as much puppy food as they want and then treats like you are doing. How much does your puppy weigh? You can find an online weight estimator and put in their weight and it should tell you their projected adult weight, although do keep in mind these are not always accurate.

| I agree with JadeD that weight and proper amount of food depends on the puppy.

| My male puppy turned 3 months old yesterday and weighed 1 lb 5oz so you never know. I was worried about his size but the vet said he is very healthy. A good weight for one puppy isn't a good weight for another |

| Make sure they get enough to eat and not be hung up on puppy weight. They are going to get as big as they get. But you want there bones and body to be healthy...A nice round puppy belly is a happy, healthy puppy.....to a limit |

| My Zoey weighs 2 pounds 7 ounces at 9 1/2 months and I still free feed her puppy food. I will continue to free feed her even when she starts on adult food, because she is so small. It really does depend on the individual puppy as to what they should weigh. |

| LOL Bella's little belly tonight after dinner looked like she had eaten a bowling ball. She is six months and just got over the three pound mark.
