| It has been a while. Hello everyone, it's been a while since I have been on here. In fact probably 6 years as my signature had said mummy to 2 year old lil yorkie Alfie. Just an update. Alfie is now a spoilt eight year old, fun loving, live wire wee man and my husband and I love him from the bottom of our hearts. Yesterday, we adopted a rescue Yorkie, 8-9 years old named Penny. She is the most adorable wee thing. But all day yesterday she has been snapping at Alfie and then today Alfie has been snapping at her. Although I think they are doing more sniffing around each other and she seems to want to get to know him. I think he might be just territorial. I want them to get on, they will, won't they? I hope to post update pictures later.

| I'm sure that with a little moderated time together to get well acquainted with one another, they will get on famously.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hi - how great to see you here ! Welcome back and big congrats on your new addition to the fam! I do think that dogs adjust, almost all the time. It's rare that they don't. Just give it time and patience. It may help too to take a little bandana -- and rub it all over the opposite dog and tie one around each of their necks...so that the others' smell is always right there.

| Thanks for the advise everyone. Penny has been with us not for 5 days. She is just adorable. She walks well on the leading, quiet in the car and just wants to snuggle with me all the time. Alfie on the other hand is a wee bull and very vocally. We took her to the vet on Monday and found out she has a severe heart murmur. So just have to keep an eye on her. Both of them still snarl and growl at each other. Although when we are not looking we have noticed her jumping around him like a little rabbit in a playful suggestion. And noticed him sniffing around her. So hoping that they will finally come around to each other. The only other thing is that the pound said she eats wet food. I would sometimes mix a bit of wet food into Alfie's kibble in the morning and he loves it. So was trying the same thing on her and she was just picking the kibble out and eating the wet food. I was getting worried she wasn't eating enough so adding a bit more wet yesterday to her food with plans of gradually reducing it. But she never went near the food at all. But by night the wet food had cleared from both bowls so I am not sure who ate what as I have noticed her going to his bowl and him going to hers. Well this morning when I did the same thing even he didn't eat any food. That is not like him as before we got Penny he scoffed his morning food.

| Congrats on your new addition and thank you for rescuing. In time they will adjust to each other. Remember, this is Alfie's home, he is use to being # 1. New little girl, she needs time to adjust to a new family, a new home, new surroundings, new smells, new schedule, new command words, she has a very big adjustment to make, I would expect her to be anxious and nippy with Alfie if he shows no sign of friendship. She needs time to adjust, Alfie needs time to accept. Always feed Alfie first, make Alfie first with every thing, give Alfie treat first, toy, play, cuddle. If you walk Alfie walk them together... Do not force them to be friends, let each one make friends at their own pace. They are close in age, they will get it together and will become great buds. Let them work it out between them, step in only if necessary. Please keep us up-dated on their progress.

| Thanks Matese, I have been going to Alfie first in certain situations such as welcoming him first when I get home from work and even when Penny is sleeping in the living room I spend time bonding with Alfie like we normally do. Just more cuddles and kisses. But never thought of the food bit and I am not sure whos bowl going down first. I'll keep that in mind for the next feed. Here is some pictures of Alfie and Penny (Penny is the black and tan one).
