My experience about flying with Yorkie to Europe and back Happy New Year everone! I just got back from my trip to Germany and I have to say that it went so much better than I possibly thought it could. Simba was great in the plane, I don't think the flight attendants were aware of his presence and I kept him on my lap underneath the blanket for 99% of the time. He just slept and I gave him some nuctrical and a little bit of water. I had given him little to eat the night before to prevent certain "accidents" on the plane. I took him to the bathroom a couple of times with a pee pad but of course with all the noise and different surrounding he wouldn't go so I kept the pee pad on him too (which he didn't use either throughout the whole flight). Pretty much he held it in for 15 hours straigt. It was really funny though, as soon as we walked through the exit door at the Munich airport, he had hardly set a foot on the other site, Simba peed for what seemed like 5 minutes. You really could see the relief in his eyes. Good boy, I was so proud. He also loved the snow and it was nice to be able to take him with me everywhere, shops, restaurants, etc. you name it. Europe is much more lenient with dogs than here in the U.S. Oh, I also was never asked for any documentation there or here but I am still glad I was all prepared. I hope this info will help someone else who will fly with their dog.

what a good boy. I travel with my little Edith quite a bit. I always try to make time for a pee pee break at any layovers, but it isn't easy. If there are long security lines, I can't take the risk of going out of the terminal and going back through security. I know a lady who is blind and has a dog who travels with her. She is lobbying to get "rest areas" at airports for dogs. I hope she succeeds.

I am so glad you had a good experience. Way to go Simba! I have flown to South Korea and back several times with my girl. I have never had a problem, the only thing going thru Japan, they do ask for documentation which I always had with me. I can't say mine was quiet the whole time though, there were several times she let her presence be known. But I have to say the whole airline crew where quite supportive. See, with Yorkies, they CAN go everywhere. Here's to the international Jetsetters.

I currently live in Germany and I was so suprised with people's attitude towards animals. I admire the fact that there are no puppymills, pet shops do not sell animals and that animal shelters keep the cats/dogs until they find a family to adopt them. They are so advanced in that domain. Way to go on your little boy. You should be very proud

yay, looks like my husband and I can visit Europe when he retires. No more Hawaii with Shelby in our lives. So Germany is lenient? How about Italy? Anyone know? How do you find out about hotels?

My father has travelld to Germany nd he remembers the german shepherds in he restaurants over there. I too wish our country was more progresssive about the treatment of dogs and that there were no puppymills and no dogs euthanized at the "shelters". Isn't that why they are called shelters. We don't euthanize people who are homeless why should we do it to dogs?

| I just got back from Germany as well, & I couldn't believe everywhere I saw dogs! Even at the airport! I, unfortunately, couldn't bring Ginger with me. It was a lonely 2 wks. without my baby !
