| The wait is killing me!!! And here's the Richell pen. I pick my puppy up on Tuesday! It feels like an eternity away. I have everything I need for her and am waiting on a few fun things that should be here tomorrow. I'm trying to think about the fun things (like a pop up play pen and collar) to keep my mind off the wait for the puppy but it's so hard. I couldn't sleep last night thinking about picking her up. The last time I felt this way was when I was expecting my babies to be born. But that was a scary and exciting all at the same time. This time around I'm just excited. How did you all pass the time? Here is the richell expandable pet pen I ordered. I think it's awesome. I put a piece of matching linoleum under it because I didn't like the ridges on the expandable pan. Doesn't it look awesome? http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z...psf370ea61.jpg |

| That's a great looking pen! I tried an exercise pen with my male and he climbed out of it within minutes. He definitely needed something like what you have. I think a lot of us spent time researching to pass the time. I think buying things would also help

I've read so many post of puppies jumping out of their pen. I wanted to invest in something that I would not need to alter or buy additional parts for so I got this. I'm a worry wart and need to know she can't hurt herself when I'm gone since I work part time. I'm no expert but I don't even know what else to research and the only thing left to buy is her name tag. I'm holding off on that because I haven't decided on a name yet. I have a list of a few and am waiting to see what matches her personality. I think I'm going to buy another book from the app store on my ipad. I'll probably read it overnight then go right back to waiting impatiently. lol

| How old is she going to be? I have some recommendations -Food dishes (I recommend stainless steel for water bowls) -Potty pads -Cloud 9 bed -Collar (I recommend Buddy Belt collars, they are leather and are great!) -Snoozer car seat -Buddy Belt harness (when she gets to her adult size) -Madan pin brush -Baby wipes (for her paws and bum) As for tags, I love Fetching Tags, you can customize them and they are great. They don't scratch and wear away like your normal tags. and I'm sure there is a lot more, but there are some things to look into! Let me know if you have any questions... We all love spending money on our yorkies

What type of food are you going to feed her? Do you know what the breeder has her on?

The breeder is feeding her home made food. I was planning on doing pre-made raw like nature's variety or primal. I'm going to measure her when she gets here and possibly buy the buddy belt knowing she will need a bigger size down the road. I guess it depends on how well the step in harness I bought from petco works.

| Get ready for some cryin time I have a Richelle pen too. ...the first week all my baby did was howl at night and boy what a set of vocals, I couldn't believe it. So I put her in a crate with cozy bed inside. And placed beside my bed. That worked for awhile but these little darlings want their momma and YOU are it. I would get up twice a night to pee her, then when she stayed dry all night or I should say quiet cause she would "ask" to be let out to pee , I ended up letting her sleep in my bed. And she can't get close enough. All they want is security so be patient.....it's a transition for them they are taken away from everything they have ever known into the strange and unknown.......anyway I don't use the pen much anymore cause it is on our main floor which is tile and her home area. We block off the other room when we leave and she has a pig pillow she would rather lay on. I put the pen on another level with pee pads and she uses that but doesn't the cave bed inside.......me oh my..she is 8 months old now, and take lots of pictures , they grow fast! Good luck to you! |

I was planning on doing something similar. I have a little crate on my night stand next to my bed. I have a self warming pad on the way from dr. foster's and smith (among other things). Hopefully she will be content in there over night and in the pen when I'm out. My husband is against dogs in the bed so I'll have to work something out. Our apartment is not very big so I'm hoping to use the pen for a while. I'll be happy if it serves it's purpose for at least a year. I'll be snapping and posting pics like crazy!

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Congrats. I know that waiting is the hardest part. I spent more money waiting that last week lol I know you have most of this but here is my list of items Puppy food - whatever puppy is eating now Tube of Nutra Cal Blankets Potty pads Potty pad holder Iris 4 sided expen with 2 extra sides Toys Identification tags Nature’s Miracle the advanced cat formula. ( cats pee is stronger ) Treats- Cheerios work well Small bowls Harness Leash Puppy shampoo Conditioner Espree Pet Facial Cleanser - plum Baby wipes Nail clippers Kwik Stop Styptic Powder Curved scissors Brush - Li'l Pals Slicker Purple and Green Brush for Kittens, Extra Small - slicker brush that I find it to work awesome... just make sure you get one without any ball on the ends of the pins so it doesn't snag the long hair. Comb - Groomaster Finishing Dog Comb - this is a great eye comb, I have it and use it to get eye boogies out and even to use around their butt when they get some dry puppy stuck! Books "Yorkies For Dummies" "Yorkshire Terriers: A Smart Owners Guide" "How to Housebreak Your Dog in 7 Days"

| Your question got me thinking... I don't remember what life was like before Kaji. He just showed up and took over. I think I spent all my time on YT. the only thing I regret buying before Kaji came home that he never used is toys. I bought so many toys! I didn't know a pup could be so picky! I bought a kong, he hated it. To this day he hates the texture/taste of plastic rubber toys. I bought him a plush hedgehog, he hated that too. In fact, he didn't use toys until 8 months later. First toy he ever picked up was a full size tennis ball. Now that's all I buy, those tiny squeaky tennis balls. He loves those! I think a lot of the pups here love those.

| deb heuston Hi everyone ! I have been reading Yorkie Talk for quite a few years , just never posted. I have 6 little yorkies. I have a small grooming buisness from home. I also do breeding as a hobby, cause I love PUPPIES ! That way I get to have puppies , but don't have to keep them. Everyone says, how can you give them up ? I tell them, by the time they're ready to go to new homes, I'm ready for them to go ! They are a lot of WORK! If I fall in love with one, I keep it! LOL. I usually have people waiting ,before I breed, so I have homes for them. |

| deb heuston Hi, on your new puppy ! It is so hard waiting ! I noticed one thing missing from your list ! Shampoo. I use yorkie splash products that I found listed here on Yorkie Talk. Even if you don't plan on doing your own bathing, they have a great detangler spray. You should always spray coat before brushing so hair doesn't break off. The shampoos and conditioner keeps hair nice and silky ! And I love the scents they have ! Good luck with your new baby !: |
