| What kind of Flea Meds do you use? We're using Frontline Plus here but it hasn't been getting all the fleas. We have fleas really terribly bad where I'm at this year. I'm beginning to do research about the different kinds, pros, and cons of each one and thought that maybe you all could give me your experiences with what you've used. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks so much Crystal |

Yorkie Yakker | I was giving Guido a bath today and I found a flea on him. I also use frontline plus. I gave him this months dosage right after his bath. I have never seen one on him until today. RHe freaks out big time when I put the flea medicine on him too.

| I use Advantix II. I think depending on where you live, one brand might work and the other won't. Ticks have been pretty bad this year. Even with Advantix II, I'd find a tick. It's not so bad now but when the season started, I found one every night. My neighbors who use different brands like Frontline and other were having the same issues.. Have you asked your vet for recommondations? Sometimes the best thing to do is just check them often and make sure those parasites aren't there... |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I use Revolution. I hadn't given it to mine yet this year because they all had some health issues and they aren't outside much. But in early July I found a flea on Pixie and some flea dirt. I have treated the house and them and using the Revolution. I am hoping it works. I hate fleas.

| Don't know how true it is but my vet told me that Frontline isn't as effective as it use to be. Sad to say because that was the only brand I used on my other dog. It's been around for so long that the fleas are becoming use to it (or something like that). Now I'm not sure what I want to use this year.

| I too use revolution. Well I've used it on my cats so far and I'm sure Gizmo will use it too. My vet told me the fleas everywhere in the US have become immune to frontline and advantage. I know this was totally true with my kitties. I finally got the revolution and it worked awesome. It is rx here in CA, not sure about other states, but I ordered from pet bucket.com , which is in the UK but had great reviews. They were amazing and it did not take as long going through customs as I thought it would. Apparently many meds are rx free in the UK, where here in the states you can only get them from the vet. It came in the exact containers and everything, just like the Bayer container here of revolution :-) |

| I use advantix II ticks are our problem here and its the only thing I have found that works. The frontline just attracted them more it seems.

| Thanks so much everyone! I will be discussing this with my vet but wanted all the facts and info on various meds first so I can make an informed decision. |

You may want to consider picking up some Talstar pro and spraying the inside of your home. It's very safe. TalstarPro is an Awesome all around pest control.. It's what all the Pros use.. For outside: I'd use "Onslaught" just because it hold up longer in the rainy area's.. Both are excellent products... We have someone who sprays our yard and bushes monthly, But I take care of the entire inside. You don't need a big pump sprayer , you can use a hand sprayer and it'll work fine without lugging a big pump sprayer around. | |

| I used Revolution until a month ago, and then I switched to Sentinal. It's both heartworm and flea protection and it's a lot cheaper. If you have a big problem with fleas, something like Revolution works better. Revolution kills both biting fleas and flea reproduction. I am pretty sure that Sentinal just kills the biting fleas. So far, so good with my boys. We've had no problems this summer!! |

| I used to use Sentinel and never...ever...had a problem with fleas. I used Frontline as a backup (extra support for traveling or going places. My vet changed what I used and my life has never been the same. The vet told me they don't make Sentinel anymore. I can't get anyone to confirm that for me though. I've used several things, including revolution with Frontline. Nothing has worked as well. Recently, about a week after giving them Revolution, I found fleas. I bathed them in flea shampoo, sprayed them, and put Frontline on them. Nothing worked until I gave them a Capstar. The last time I gave them a Capstar, it didn't work right away. I've now hired a Bug Man to come spray my yard and house. The fleas are not going away in the house (don't see them on the babies though)! I feel your pain! Good luck! |
