A good professional breeder that has used good line breeding techniques will have a general size that the pups are turning out as but even they can have some variations. When someone is advertising "teacups" and is promising tiny adult sizes you can count on the fact that they are scamming you either intentionally or they just know nothing about the breeding of purebred dogs. | |

YT 2000 Club Member | Teeka is already spoiled and I will love her no matter the size! I just wish some breeders were honest. I paid a lot of money for her and my expectations of a yorkie in the 3-4 pound range are going down hill! Live and Learn!

YT 2000 Club Member | Oh, she will! My husband was just telling me, this morning. how much Teeka is spoiled by me! We have a total of 5 dogs. Two are yorkies, 1 Cocker Spaniel, a American Esikmo and a Springer Spaniel. Only one of the 5, did we purchase. The others were left or given to us. I guess people know we have a soft heart for dogs! Thank you everyone for the info and input!

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | I know that each of us are different in our wants/needs. For me, I will always gravitate to the larger Yorkie which at 7lbs max is not large in my eyes. I want solid bone structure, not straw type limbs. I don't want to have to worry that jumping on or off the occasional piece of furniture will break a bone. I want a doggie that can hike with the pack. Terriers including YT's truly should be rough n tumble kind of dogs; that was originally what they were bred for; ie hunting rats.

| I'm going to measure Mandie again today. I'm curious about her height in front verses her height in back. She looks like she might be a tad taller in back but not sure...

Donating YT 10K Club Member | While there is no height restriction...the dog should be compact and square. This means their height would equal their length or very close. There are many while not compact...which are still square.

YT 2000 Club Member | Since joining YT in November, I have learned so much! I never new the measurements of height and length should match or be close. I find that very interesting!

Donating YT 10K Club Member | The love of our lives was not compact, square, or under 7 pounds. The most perfectly structured dog will never replace her either.

| I had to check Mandie on the front height v. back height just to see. She's a 1/4 inch higher in the back. Front = 9" Back = 9 1/4"
