| OMG my call to animal control has made the news!!! OMG. I had posted about 2 emaciated dogs which belonged to my neighbor not long ago and had recently posted an update about one of the poor babies passing away. The thread is here: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...ated-dogs.html It has made the local news! Although it doesn't reference me (because I don't want to have any backlash), it was because of me that at least one of them has a fighting chance. The video is very sad because it shows the black lab who passed away and HOW SKINNY SHE WAS. I'm glad the girl is being charged because I was sick to my stomach when I saw them and the way they were. Oh, and they say she's 18 but she's actually 19. Here is the video link to the story: http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/story/20...erling-heights

| If only we could save them all! I keep rewatching the video to see sweet Angel trying to eat while so weak. She was not my own dog but my heart is still aching. If only I had known how bad she was before the day I went and knocked on that door...I wish so bad I could've done more.

| That is still just so sad and maddening. They keep pointing out that she is 18 years old. I'm sorry, but so what? What does that matter? If you are old enough to live on your own in your own apartment and have 2 dogs, then you are old enough to know that a dog is starving to death. Praying Shiner makes a full recovery and finds a home full of love. RIP Angel! ETA: You did great calling Animal Control as soon as you saw them. Because of you, Shiner has a chance at a life.

| So terribly sad that that black lab died a senseless death. I cannot figure how anyone could starve a dog. I'm glad the other one is alive, but sure feel bad about the other. I'm glad they are bringing charges against her. She needs to pay for what she did!

| There are just so many unanswered questions here. Why does an 18 year old have her own apartment with 2 large dogs? How on earth could she live in the same place with 2 starving dogs? She has enough money for a computer and an internet connection but she can't find the money to buy dog food? I'm sure the local shelter would have taken them in. At least they would not have starved to death in front of her eyes!!! I have lived long enough to see the society that I grew up in fall apart. It was once unusual for people to abuse their animals. Now it is more the norm to find people that neglect and misuse their pets. |

| The last I knew it takes 2 months rent to get an apartment. I could see if she was a college student that was being supported by her parents but if she had enough money, on her own, to put a deposit and a months rent on an apartment she should have had enough to feed her dogs. But maybe she never considered how much it really costs to live. Looks like the dogs got the worst part of that poor decision. |

| I commend you for doing the right thing, I feel so badly for both the dogs and only hope Shiner continues to improve. As someone mentioned previously if you do not have the money to feed or care of your dogs please surrender them, there are rescues who will take them.

| You did a good thing calling animal control! It appears though that people are making her age a factor in the situation, but I'm 18 and my dog is very well cared for. I make sure he eats twice a day, in fact my favorite part of the day is breakfast because we eat it together, when I sit at the table with my breakfast I will set his bowl by my chair and we happily eat our breakfasts side-by-side. Henri is well fed, well groomed, and a very happy dog. I hope that she gets full punishment, she is an adult and should have known better, because of her stupidity those poor dogs paid the price. There is no excuse to treat any living thing that way, if she couldn't care for the dogs she should have surrendered them. Sorry for my angry rant, but people like this girl really tick me off
