| Where do you keep your Yorkie when you are away from home? My little boy just turned 1 year old on Sunday. He's small - about 3 1/2 pounds. When I leave for work, I put him in a pen in the kitchen. It is a 6 panel pen, but I'm only using 4 panels to make it square, and so it fits. It is 30" wide. So, it is 2.5 feet square pen. I put a blanket in it, that he prefers to lay on, a dog bed, his food and water, and some toys. I go home at lunch time to let him outside, and he doesn't have accidents in the pen. But, he will pee or poop on my floors if he has to. I'm wondering what other people do with their Yorkies when they aren't at home to keep them happy and safe. Are they loose in the house? Are they loose in a room? Are they in a crate or pen? I'd love to get some type of gate to contain him in the kitchen, but the gate would need to be about 6 feet wide and easily movable. Any ideas? (My kitchen, living room, and dining room are all open to each other.) |

| Peanut is in his crate in my closet with the closet door open. He loves it in his crate, he is safe and I don't have to worry. I saw a really cute gate at CVS, I bought it for my kitchen. It is black and has bone shaped cut outs... Not sure how long it is but it fits the opening of my kitchen. It is really easy to move around as well.

| Most of the time Lexie is with me everywhere I go, but when I leave her at home, she has the run of the house. Rarely has there been an accident. She just sleeps or watches TV. If she hasn't pooped yet, I keep her in a 30' X 60" pen with her crate & pee pad. That's where she sleeps at night, too. Works great. Depends on how reliable and active your dog is as to what he needs best.

| Depending on how long I will be gone and where I am going. If I am making a short trip locally I give Sophie Kate free roam of the house. Longer trips or further away she is crated. I should note Sophie Kate had to earn the free roam right, it was not given right away until I knew she was fully pad trained and would not cause problems (harassing the cat, chewing).

| If I am gone just a few hours, Trinket stays in her x-pen with cartoons on. If going to be longer, in her crate which has a bedroom and a potty section. This is where she sleeps at night. |

| Ours just run around the house and do whatever it is dogs do when the people are away. =] Nine times out of ten there is a little surprise waiting for us - on the potty pad - when we come home. |

| Willow and Allie have full run of the house. I have potty pads out for them if needed. Luci is only 3 pounds and I put her in the playpen with bed, potty pad if needed.

| Mine just run the house. If they do what they do when I'm home....they pretty much just sleep.

| Georgie has 2 options and it depends on how long we will be gone: Option #1 is for lengthy outings he goes to Grandmas Option #2 is when we are running errands and will be gone for a couple hours or less. He has the run of the house. My husband and I both agree we would love to see what he does when we go for Option #2 LOL. At grandma's he cuddles with them and sleeps most of the time.

| Tibbe just stays in the house like he does when I'm here. If I'm going to be gone over a day, he stays with my son.

Senior Yorkie Talker | 8 year old Gabby has the run of the house. She is well trained and rarely has accidents. 15 week old Harley is crated at night but when we leave the house, he is in the laundry room with a puppy pad, his bed and some toys. He has actually started using the puppy pad or at least getting close to it. Yay! . However, we are rarely away from home. I'm a home schooling mom and my husband does a lot of his work from home. And we take them with us whenever we can.
