| NEW baby Hello! I am new here and new to the Yorkie family also! any advice for me? we are trying to decide on a name my husband likes Bell, and I like Bay. She was born on 3/21 and a girl sold her to me, because she said she didnt have the time for her. She told me she got her from a breeder and doesnt have much information for me about the breeder, I think she doesnt remember or something? Anyway, I have ckc papers and shes very well behaved so far! (knock on wood!) shes doing pretty well with potty training, I just take her out like every hour or so. She is cuddly and I let her sleep with me, not sure if that is good or not but I cant help it! She trys to play with my 1 year old son, and our cat and chihuahua. |

| Welcome, and congrats on your new puppy! As for names, that's entirely between you and your husband. We gave our dogs first and middle names. Maybe you could settle on a combination of the two names? As for having a puppy/dog in bed with you, that's a personal choice. We always had our puppies in bed with us from the day we got them. As they got older, we let them sleep whereever they want. At least when they were puppies and were in bed with us at night, I would feel them get up in the middle of the night and I'd quickly get up and take them outside to potty. It has worked well for us. Sounds like she's a typical puppy otherwise. Good luck with her. I think you will do well together!

| your right, we should combine them somehow. though, the girl that had her shaved her! I am not happy with that, but what can I do? her ears are floppy but I hope to see them stand up soon, she does not agree with our cutting the ear hair. |

| You will need to trim the hair on the ears, and tip them very short so that you get the weight off the ears if you want them to stand up. If they still won't stand up on their own, you may need to tape them to "train" them. We have 2 yorkies. Ginger has always had one floppy ear and one that stands up. Maggie's ears will stand up if the hair on the ears is kept short, but if it is left to grow longer her ears will not stand up.

| What a wonderful way to get a Yorkie! I hope things continue to go well for you. Just keep taking her out quite often. It takes a while for little dogs to get trained totally. My little girl has slept with me from day one. Right now I have my laptop on the bed and a little fur baby snugged up against my stomach. She is never far from me. With the fan and AC running she thinks it is cold so she needs some extra body heat. Congratulations on your new little baby. |

The library here is full of wonderful advice. There are several trainers as members that are always willing to give good advice. Mina has a Chi brother too. She loves Amigo and they play all of the time. | |
