| Afraid my Yorkie is going to be Pitt Bull Kibble I have some neighbors who are terrible to their dogs. They have had several Pitts. The Pitts Bulls are not fed much of the time, and they are not sicialized at all. The poor things will be skin and bones. One of the pups was sick with maggots crawling in and out of its nose. Someone, sometimes me, in the neighbor hood will call the humane society and they will remove the dogs and get treatment and a week later they will have 4 more. Dexter (my 3 pound baby) loves to play outside, but even with his lead, I don't know that I could stop a Pitt when it came to attack, but would try. We fenced in the back yard to because I have children also and this keeps the dogs out. I take Dexter in the back yard, but b/c of all the play equipment he constantly gets tangled. Also, he knows the front yard as his space and won't potty in the back (which I thought at first was wierd), but that's just him. I'm not sure what I can do. I wish people had to pass some sort of requirements prior to being a pet owner. I also wish that once they have been caught abusing a pet, there would be SEVERE consequences for them having another pet. Don't know what else to do.

| Oh dear God, I had a yorkie once that got attacked and killed by a Pit. Not a fun site as I sat and watched. My neighbor did go pull him away and needless to say, he was gone. I cannot even imagine what would happen seeing a child. Call the Animal control. Does your area have the leash law? I would call animal control everyday if they were out of a gate/fence. These pits use to live across from me and I would call animal control everyday when I seen them out. The owner then put 4 of them in a 4x4 cage. I called animal control on that too. There was poo all over the place, they had no where to lay but in it. The he/she that lived there finally got the red slip and she got rid of them or took them somewhere else. You dont have to leave your name in my area. |

| Oh MAN I would be on the horn to Animal Control EVERY single day. If that doesn't work, perhaps calling the police might do it. Do I understand that their yard is not fenced?

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I agree with the others, keep reporting these dogs. Call your city officials, councilmen, etc. You have a right to feel safe in your home. To find the name of your councilmen, just google you city and state and the word, "councilmen." Write or call him and tell him what you have tried and the results. I would hope that they would want to protect the dogs, but they surely have an obligation to protect you and your family. A starving dog is a dangerous dog, I dont care what breed it is.

| This is going to be hard to believe, my my county does not have animal control. I tried reporting it to the police, and their proffesional response is WHEN it comes after my dog or my kids...shoot it. Very helpful officials around here.

| Why are they letting these people get more dogs!! Are there no laws to protect animals input county? If they have been found guilty of neglect then surely they should be banned from owning another animal. Morons

Also this page will take you to Lawrence County officials. Contact a County Department I would make it clear that I was concerned for the safety of myself and my children.

| They don't have their yard fenced. And the lady was actually arrested for animal cruelty (no feeding, no medical attention, and keeping a full grown pit in a cage that he could not stand up or turn around in for days). But I don't guess that stops them from getting more animals.

| I would keep reporting them until someone comes out and see's what's happening!!! I have grandkids that also live next door to pitt bulls and it's scary!! These dogs have their heads sticking out from under the garage door and if they manage to get that door up...God only know what will happen to all the kids outside playing on that Cul-de-sac. Good luck and keep us posted!!!

| OMG those people shouldn't own any animal, let alone large strong breed like pits. Pits are wonderful when they are raised by folks that train and love them, but if not they can be so dangerous I agree with Nancy, get your local news on this. Get your local officials on it. Let them know that you are in fear for your children's lives!! I am frightened for all of you

| Dont complain and mention your concern for your little dog...truth is, majority of the people that you need to talk with to get vicious dogs dealt with properly, could care less about dogs, YOURS included. "Dogs are nothing but property in the eyes of the law." Hurts to even write those words.... You express fear for YOUR safety and the safety of your child/children/elderly parent, etc....and you keep a record...a diary, which is admissable in court....of every time you contact anyone, the date and time of the call, the name of who you spoke with, the conversation, the result of the call. That way, IF there is any catastrophic event where someone or your puppy, IS injured or killed by any of these dogs, you will have documented evidence that officials were repeatedly notified of the danger, and they chose to ignore your complaints. Be sure they KNOW why you are compiling the information, during the conversation....have no idea that you can do anything...seems to me everything in this country is slipping completely out of our hands, our control, ........but it may be a starting point..... |
