It was her first grooming. I knew she would be nervous so I thought mobile grooming would be better. I do think that part was great. Pulled right up to the house and she was out there for about 30-45 min. But he really chopped her hair. I wanted it cut down for sure, but it is so uneven and not cute. I am trying to tell myself she was probably really fidgety, but ugh. The part in front, like her chest area, he didn't even cut. So it is super long as is some parts of her legs. I had to chop a few long hairs of her leg cause when she would run, it looked liked something hanging from her backside. I want to complain but then again I don''t know. Maybe he did the best he could since she was nervous? She smelled good after and he seemed nice.

I will say that Maggies first grooming wasn't her greatest. She had mats that I didn't realize in her neck area and the groomer had to try to get them out, obviously neither groomer nor puppy liked that part. She didn't like it and I think they just didn't do a complete job (her chest was left longish too...style or dog had enough?) because she had had enough by then. They should have explained to you if there was a problem. Maybe they didn't know it was the first grooming and didn't want to tell you they had trouble because it would make them look bad?

Or, the person is just not a good groomer! Inexperienced?

I would not be happy with a grooming experience like that. We are going to ask to watch because we want to learn how to groom her ourselves. She is really a good puppy and likes to be bathed and brushed. She even lets us clip her butt and eyes when they start getting too long so she should not be a problem for a groomer. I would complain.

How much did he charge? Were you allowed to supervise? It's always best to voice your opinion and feedback is better than none, just so he doesn't butcher another poor fluff the same way he did yours.

You might want to let the groomer know that you weren't pleased so he can rectify the situation. I have a mobile groomer who is fantasic and have a wonderful rapor with her. Communication is the key. Or ask for referrals from other Yorkie mom's in the area.

The best time to tell a groomer you did not like the grooming is when you pick the dog up. It can be hard to do because you and they are usually in a hurry. A good groomer should be experienced enough to know how to control a young frightened dog. If the pup is nervous you just do a simple cut. The only excuse for an uneven cut would be if there were mats in the coat. You don't pay a "professional" to make your dog look like an uneven mess or to do the exact opposite than what you requested. Don't feel bad about stating how you feel about the cut. You are the one having to pay for an unprofessional hair cut.

In my humble opinion it is the groomers job to not only groom a dog but to also have the skills to calm them in order to get good results. I too had a very bad experience with a groomer. I took Chloes sister Georgie in some years ago to a groomer that was supposed to be good. When I went to pick her up she had clipper marks all over her body where she was shaved down to the skin. The groomer also didn't clip Georgies nails which was the one thing that I really needed her to do as her nails are black and difficult to trim. The groomer actually said that it was the dogs fault! I left without paying her in spite of her protests. Poor Georgie shook for a few hours afterwards. I have no idea what the woman did to my poor girl but I can say I was pretty upset. Sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience

Perhaps you can ask if anyone here on YT knows of a good groomer in your area.

I think you should say something- You should always research groomers before you try them and look at before and after pics. I am sorry you had such a bed experience.

Oh no! Poor thing. I've only had Darla groomed once, but I didn't have any problems.

I would call to ask what happened. Like I always say, when hairstylist and groomers mess up they need to know. Otherwise they are just going to keep messing up their clients without real knowledge that they are doing something wrong. And HOPEFULLY you will help to save a future client of a total upset. They also just might offer to come out and fix it. (ask to watch if so)

In the meantime be sure to give your furbaby lots of loving. And make sure to tell her you love her

Don't worry her hair will grow back (I know easier said than done). Take pictures so you can look back and laugh at how silly her first cut was. I would definitely call the company and let them know.

It took 3 groomers before I found my favorite! The 2nd groomer "specialized" in smaller dogs and actually burned Georgie's private parts with the clippers! So bad that we had to take him to the vet to get meds and ointment! At that point the vet recommended our current groomer and she's great.
